I have seen pics on this forum of bridesmaids wearing starfish necklaces and I think they are so cute!! I might get them starfish necklaces with crystals in them to the match the earrings. I might go with a whole starfish jewelry theme!! I am also a big fan of really big costume rings. Maybe I can find a starfish one too. I havn't been looking at jewelry websites yet but if I find one I'll definitely pass it on.

For shoes, I am going with flip flops all the way! I am having a beach ceremony so the wedding will be barefoot and then once we are off the sand everyone will be wearing flip flops. I got my dresses at Davids Bridal and they have flip flops there to match the colors of the dresses so I will get the girls their flip flops for them as one of their gifts too. I couldn't fathom the thought of wearing heels to the beach!!

I have four bridesmaids so including myself there would be 5 heads for my cousin to do. It's not that many so I think I will take your advice and frame it as a joke and see what she says. I also LOVE your idea of offering the spa services to her as a thank you for doing our hair. With taking care of 3 kids (two being 2 year old twins) she doesn't get a lot of time for herself. I'm sure she would love a massage or two!! Her husband will just have to watch the kids while she treats herself for a change!! I want to have all of the bridesmaids do "updo's" for the wedding as I think it will look nice if everyone has the same hairstyle. How about you? What are you thinking about for hairstyles?
The starfish jewelry sounds cute! Tiffany has that cute sterling silver necklace and stud earrings set. You can get really good knockoffs too. I do love swarovski though!

My girls are wearing one-shoulder dresses, so I'm looking for dangly earrings and bracelets. Let me know if you find anything good!

For the hair, I think I'm just going to let the girls decide what they want to do. A few of my friends are fans of the loose curl down do's. January is actually not too hot, plus our ceremony is in the church so wind is not really a huge factor.

Let me know how it goes with your cousin. I actually have a close friend who does hair and I was going to ask her to do ours, but now she's not sure if she can make it for financial reasons. So much for that!

Cute monogram, Joanna! Did you do it yourself?

Speaking of kids, my nephew who is our ring bearer will be 13 months old on our wedding date. Who knows if he'll be walking.

Our flower girl will be 2 and a half. If he's not walking by then, was thinking of having her pull him in a wagon. But where in the world would I get a wagon in Mexico? Anyone have any other ideas?

Hi! I'm another 2011 Bride. We got engaged this past New Year's Eve and we'll be getting married March 5th, 2011. After months of working with the travel agent we just confirmed and booked our date. We've visited the Mayan Riviera twice before. The 1st time we stayed at the Bahia Principe Akumal and fell in love with the Mexico. So, when we got engaged we knew we wanted to go back there to get married. So this past March we booked another vacation to check out the resort. I'd done some research on the internet to find the resort that suited us best and decided on the Barcelo Maya Tropical. The resort was beautiful and we were really happy with our choice. I couldn't imagine booking a wedding there unless I visited it and I was so happy we did. The wedding co-ordinator met us and spent about 2 1/2 hrs with us. She took us all around the resort on a golf cart and showed us all the different areas we could choose for the ceremony and the reception. We decided on the Barcelo Palace Gazebo (if you're not staying at the Palace there is a charge to have the ceremony there) and for the reception we chose the Palmeras Grill. An open air restaurant just off the beach. Anyway, if you decide to do a pre-trip it's well worth it. Really sets your mind at ease. Couldn't be happier with our selection.

Hmmm...some of the resorts have very large wagons that get used for seaweed removal, but 1) it will be to heavy for a 2 year old to pull, and 2) I don't think it fits the wedding scene.

Depending on what you had planned in terms of walking down the aisle. If the bridemsaids are just walking down the aisle (ie groomsmen in front already), I would suggest one of your bridesmaids carry the ring bearer, and holding hands with the flower girl perhaps? If you have the bridesmaids and groomsmen walking in together, maybe the first couple can walk in with the flower girl, and the next couple with the ring bearer?

Thanks for the ideas! Haha, yeah seaweed wagon, not so good.

We are probably having the BM and GM walk in together (as long as the numbers stay even) with the exception of the MOH and Best Man. I was going to have the best man stand in front with the groom so that he's not standing up there all alone, and then have my sister, MOH, walk in solo right before me. So I think I will plan on having her hold the ring bearer (it's her son after all) and hold the flower girl's hand.

Thanks for that! wink.gif

Thanks Tara,

no i didn't do it myself, i'm not that clever.... I got it from Allurements by Rebecca, just ordered our invitations too. I'm not remotely arty, too clumsy, too impatient, and i have two kids and two jobs, so the extent of my crafty stuff will be ordering pens and luggage tags from vistaprint!

I think getting an older bridesmaid to carry or hold hands with the little one is a great idea, kids are too unpredictable!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
