Hey fellow brides! Long time no chat! I've been busy painting my house and laying floors this last week...man I am tired!

 

So with all the resort construction drama, we've switched resorts! I am thisclose to booking at Barcelo Maya Palace instead. I know there's at least one other Barcelo bride on here...I'm so excited!

Hahaha Michelle is the other Barcelo bride! I was 99.9% sure about Barcelo (because of their gazebo)..until..their super slow email reply turned me off completely.
All the previous Barcelo Brides gave super good reviews. However, I prefer to be "zen" during my planning.

Iberostar is currently running a special that you get a 75 dollar spa credit when you book your trip. It's good through 2010, and they're not sure if it'll be offered in 2011. If it is, my BM's and the mom's will probably use that towards their hair. If that's the case, I'll just have them use the resort's salon and I'll still use Trevor since he's doing my hair/makeup trial this month!

Pics of the flower book would be awesome! Whatever you could take pics of would be great though. It's always good to see things from other peoples perspectives.

As for the hair yes definitely take pics of your hair and makeup. I would love to see his work!! I know with the package I booked that the brides hair is included in the price of the package. I was worried about what my BM were going to do because I thought the prices were really expensive. Not sure if the 2011 people get a credit toward their hair/makeup? I will ask Karla about that. I'll check out this forum and see if I can find any info about Waves as well. Thanks Lindo, it's really helpful to hear these things from someone who is wondering the same things as I am!

Yah!! I'm another Barcelo Maya Palace Bride!! I am so happy we chose this resort! Our WC is Victoria and she is lovely. Yes her response time is very slow but i have been told they are in more contact when it's closer to the wedding. I am over 10months away. I've heard alot of hotels are slow. They are a big resort and very busy with lots of weddings so work really hard! I am very confident our wedding will be great and to be honest you sort alot of the bits out when you arrive so not to much to do now! Let us know how you get on and what you decide! I wouldn't let the slow reply time put you off if you like the hotel. The girls on the Barcelo thread will also help you out with any questions you have )

Hi there! I am also a Barcelo bride! My WC is Claudia, her response time to my emails vary but she seems very organized. We chose the resort because we have people of all ages coming and there seems to be a good variety of things to do. I still haven't decided where exactly we will be having our ceremony and reception, hopefully I will get some answers from Claudia soon!

Yeah, the slow e-mail thing honestly doesn't really bother me. I am SUPER laid-back about everything...I plan on doing the majority of the planning once we get there. I want everything simple and fun and natural, so I don't think I'll get too frustrated with slow e-mail responses. Plus, I have all of you gorgeous ladies to answer my questions! Hee hee!

Whoo Our wedding date has been confirmed today, Its the date we requested May 6th, BUT we couldnt get the 4pm time we wanted so we are now getting married at 1PM... Im not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing?!?

 

1.) Wanted to sunbathe AM.... (gana have to master getting ready pronto)

 

2.) Ages to wait for reception diner.... (always stay at the bar before hand for longer)

 

3.) Will it be too hot.... (have now got fans... THANKS KERRY)

 

Ooooooooo look @ that, The good outweighs the bad....

 

I think it will be ALL good :-) Argh it feels even more real now :-) Wedding pack should be through in a week or so (not holding breath though) xox
