Any 2011 Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

I'm 110% agreed with Mexbride.  I was 200% upset and still very angry toward my parents who didn't came to my wedding (long story short, my dad is a cheapa$$ in denial, and got extremely offended when I offered to pay for his trip, my mom was stuck with him).  He is still very bitter because all my siblings went, my aunts (mom's sis), and my grandma (mom's mom) also flew in all the way from Hong Kong to Cancun...and everyone had a blast.  My mom had a sad look when she saw the pics taken by my aunts and guests, but oh well...she picked my dad as her partner...so she can't blame anyone but herself.

Again, I wouldn't change a thing, and I am pretty happy about the whole DW, and can't wait to see the pro pics and the video.

I cant see the pix :-(

Bonnie CANT wait for yours :-)

& agree with Bonnie & Mexbride.... DONT change your plans for your family and friends, at the end of the day you are getting married for you, arent you? so why have it dictaited to you where you should have your wedding? We had 7 of us at ours but ofcourse we would have loved everyone there but if we changed our minds and had it here in the UK then we would have been doing it for everyone else and to us getting married is about US not everyone else, Ofcourse we missed those who werent there but the AHR made up for that.... :-)

Getting married in Mexico was the BEST decision we EVER had, wouldnt change it for the world and would do it again in a hreat beat, just the way it was... PERFECT :-) And what WE wanted, after all it was OUR WEDDING xx

Reading the fact not to change my mind about the DW does help a lot... I really want to get married... I want to spend the rest of my life with him... I want to go back and look at the pics and see that we are really happy with our wedding... because eyes can't lie :)

Hi everyone,

All the stories that everyone shared are all truly amazing. My fiance and I have decided that we will be having a destination wedding in Mexico, the hardest part at this moment is to choose a resort.

We decided for April 2012, I feel like there won't be enough time to plan anything.

Did everyone here booked through an agent? Should we let our guests choose who to book with?

Hope to hear from someone soon,

Van

Depending on how many guests you think you might have attending, using an agent or one specific travel website might allow you some group discounts. It also makes it easier for your guests to find out where to go to book. We used an agent primarily because we got a great group rate, and some bonus perks.

And don't worry there is plenty of time to plan a wedding for April 2012. First suggestion would be to inform your guests you plan on a destination wedding NOW! This will allow people to start saving money, or planning to use it as their vacation. Then as you get more details your guests are expecting it!

Good luck! And happy planning.

Van,

It depends on the number of incomings, and where they are coming from.  If you have a large group and all from the same village/city, use an agent would be easier for your guests to know where to go and for u to track who is lying and who is not lying when they said..they are booked.  Like Murmel said, group discount and perks can be great, and you save a lot of time on tracking everyone.  and YES, please let people know that you are going to have a DW, and expect some drama and dumb questions like...is it safe to goto Mexico, I heard people got their heads chopped off?!?!

However, if your guests are all over the galaxy and from different social class like mine (yes, I had guests who flied 26 hours in economy class, and didn't say a word.  I also got guests who insisted to fly first class only..not business, not economy and nagged for 2 days on how harsh the flight was), it would be impossible to book thru 1 agent.  I also had guests who like to compare prices and use their airmiles to pay...etc!   Therefore, it really depends on your group of potential guests.

Happy Planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
