Any 2011 Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

My father and my grandparents came to town this weekend for my dress fitting (all of my family lives about 800 miles from me). We had a great weekend and I was so sad to see them go. I was really nervous about the fitting because I just did not think that I was in love with the dress anymore. Well after ordering the dress a year ago I was surprised that I loved it again. Being completely honest I would have prefered something a little more simple for the destination wedding (when I bought the dress we were having a traditional wedding here), but I really do love the dress. Yayyy!

OMG im back from my "HEN" weekend & i have had the best best time ever!! Brilliant, 7 of us stayed in apt and FSIL met us on the sat night for meal etc :-) Luckily i booked today off work, so glad i did as i just dont think i would have made it,,,,

To cut a long story short.....

We got to Edinburgh fri night, sat nav got us lost but we didnt mind as we found Edinburgh castle so we got out and had a few pix, what a beautiful place!!

When we got to apts 2 of my friends were already there and had already started the party :-) We had a fun night, drinking games etc.

Up early on sat (slightly hung over) showered and headed to the main shops AND OMG the weather, i dont think i could have chosen a better weekend if i tried!!!!

Firstly we went to Harvey Nic's Chocolate lounge, for choc treats and champagne breakfast, we then went shopping then thought "beer garden" weather was too nice so we jumped a cab and went to the grassmarket and found an open top terrace bar where we had luch and a few drinks before heading back to the apt to get ready for the night ahead....

I have never laughed so much in all my life, my stomach is still hurting now!!!

We got ready, i had a veil, "L" plates and one of my friends had arranged sashes for everyone saying "Nicola's Hen Night 2011" on one side and "names" on the other and on my sash is said "The Future MRS. Creely" on one side and "name" on other side.... We then got taxis to "zizis" where we had our meal, which when the bill came the girls all chipped in and paid for mine :-) Lovely x

By the time we left restaurant it was 10.15pm ..... time to hit the pubs ..... what a laugh .... :-) 4.30am ish we rolled in and that was only because everywhere was closing..... didnt think i still had it in me.... haha!!!

LOVE EDINBURGH, never been before, what a beautiful place :-)

Would do it all again in a heart beat!!!!

PIX ON FB!!!!!! If you wana see??? http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=743556004&aid=341187 (duno if this works???)

WOW!!! sounds like you had such an amazing time and so much fun! mmmmm that chocolate lounge and champagne brunch sounds yummy!! europe is one of my must-see places, and i had to google Edinburgh, it looks so beautiful!!! i can't acess FB at work but I'll definately check it out when i get home.

silly question, what are "L" plates?

i had my bachlorette party last weekend, we went to vegas for 4 days and had a lot of fun, went clubbing, shopping, gambling, and pole dancing. the first night out the girls made me wear a veil, pink wig and a sash. i kinda wish i had brought them something to wear too but i never thought they'd make me wear a bright pink wig! oh and then there were "tasks" - otherwise i'd never throw out those pole dance moves in public let alone spin on the thing.

i also have never laughed so much in a weekend, nor have my feet ever hurt so much from long walks in high heels before but i would do it again!

May is really next month isn't it???

Nicola,

Yes, we have the L-plate equivalent here, we put it on the top of the car!

Rosieposie,

if u wanna travel, do it before u get any kids! hahaha...and u can skip Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton, every time I go into these cities..I start wondering why people don't commit suicide, then in Calgary..someone told me it was because they couldn't find a building high enough to jump off!  If u wanna do Europe and Canada at the same time, come to Quebec!  We have european buildings, we speak french, and tons of french immigrants to give u the oh la la feel!

Scotland is very beautiful and since Edinburgh is a financial hub where Scottish Widows and Martin Currie are based, I guess I wouldn't mind to live there!

I guess grass is greener on the other side, I want to go there, you want to come here.

My FI is from Winnipeg, says it's super cold and not much there....come to Vancouver!!!  =)  we've got beaches, moutains, city life + "small town" life within driving distance. or what Bonnie said, Montreal is beautiful. Toronto is fun too, but feels more crowded and "rush rush rush".

I SEE, hahahha we have "L" signs too but they are magnetic. we also have "N" signs (one level up from the L).

Pole dancing was a lot of work while trying to "stay sexy" but super fun, there are studios here that offer pole dancing as fitness classes so if you have something like that where you live, you should definately try it.

yes, we love to travel so depending on funds after the wedding, we're going to try to hit the big must-sees before kids.

Hahahaha you're so funny! but there really isn't much there....my FI drove from Vancouver to Winnipeg and his photos of the view look very similar after a while. nothing but flat prairie land.

must go back for some "ooh-lala"  =)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
