Me and the Norway Oil Fund folks shared the same approach in investing.

Norway has 10% surplus, where in US, the poor guy, Obama is running a 10%+ of GDP deficit every year (structurally 8%/per year).  So I would laugh at the US folks instead of the Norway ones! hahaha

btw..I love IKEA! heehee

OMG!! Hahaha! Where have you heard that? It would be impossible to live on your salary if that was true. In my home town the tax rate is 32% and in Stockholm (the capital) it is 28%. If you are really wealthy you might have to pay 50% but most of the really rich people know how to invest their money to avoid most of their taxes and get all the deductions possible. In Sweden there is a high tax on unhealthy things, such as alcohol, tobacco, sodas and candy. So a beer is a lot more expensive in Sweden than it is in the US, and it is even more expensive in Norway.

I have lived and worked in Norway too, and though I appreciate the decrease in taxes in December (so you have more money to spend on xmas gifts) the Norwegians pay the same taxes as in Sweden, if not more. As a Swede working in Norway though, you pay less taxes than the Norwegians themselves do during your first 4 years over there. EVERYTHING is more expensive, they come to Sweden to shop. How about a personal pizza for $40 or a beer for $15. They have a surplus and were able to stay out of the EU because they have oil funds. They are not reinvesting any of these funds in their country (infrastructure, community etc) and the people don't see much of that money and are the first ones to tell you that they don't know where the money goes. I think they are really on to something with 36.5 hr work weeks since studies have shown that they are still one of the most effective countries.

I love IKEA too and H&M as well!! :)

I have lived in Spain too! :) Actually if we would move back to Europe, Spain is on the top of my list. I still get all the benefits from Sweden (since it is the EU) but the nicer weather and tapas and sangria every day! :)

I am doing it through Renaissance Studios. They have a studio in Milton (so nice and close for me...and you!) I am paying $395 +tax, but it includes an hour hair/makeup, 2 hour photo shoot, 30-40 pictures. Just haven't decided if I want to buy the photo disc or the album (both extra). but you can order prints directly off the website.  www.RenaissanceStudios.ca

Almost all the other spots I found were about the same price or more, but didn't include hair/makeup. I'm am scheduled for November 12, two weeks away, and still have to go find sexy undies and try and get in shape LOL! I'll let you know how it goes.

Primavera,

I did the math..basically I will get taxed at 50+% at most of the developped countries.  I think I got the 70% in some studies, where they count everything..from income taxes, land taxes to sales taxes..and other misc taxes.  Like in Canada, we have income taxes at 50% that chop income in half, then 13% of sales tax when we buy stuffs with our net income, so technically, the total tax rate is over 50%.

The $250+ billion Norway Oil Fund was created to invest the money outside of Norway, so that the country can stay sober, not become lazy, flush with hot money and super inflated price, and become very vulnerable to oil price price decrease and economic downturn.  Look at Dubai, look at Alberta...then I think Norway is doing the right thing.

I love Spain too, I kept telling my FI that if Euro is getting bust (the euro debt saga is far from over, they are pretty much still in the woods...hahaha..they would need more cuts in spending and raise taxes), we will buy a condo in Spain.

Thanks hon! But have not been to the gym in quite a while and it's showing LOL. Was out east cleaning out my mother's house and then dealing with the closing of my own place here. Finally getting back into the swing of things, but this house is now a disaster zone and needs some TLC. But I did get my dress dropped off today. They say they need about 3 weeks to do the first alterations and then I'll need to come back to get fitted and then hopefully it will be done a few weeks after. Trying to get another TO get together organized, what's your schedule looking like?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
