I think it will be ALL good :-) Argh it feels even more real now :-) Wedding pack should be through in a week or so (not holding breath though) xox

WOW.... Lots of Barcelo brides!!! Excellent :-) x
Dunno much about 1PM in MAY, I've seen a wedding at 2PM in June when I was at the Royal...and I think the bride was sweating from her "bum bum" under her dress. It was extremely hot, and the guests were like...holy cow...say ur vows quick!

I wonder if the bride's hair and makeup, and the manicure & pedicure can be transferred to someone else as well, if you use an outside vendor? Or is it just the massages that's transferable?

Yeah, over 200 bucks with tip for hair & makeup is WAY overpriced.

Also, just a heads up if you didn't notice the manicure is 59 and pedicure is 79! I warned my girls go at home before the trip!

I was originally going to get my 8 BM's their jewelry, a monogrammed travel cosmetic/toiletry case, and then pay for them to get their hair done while we're there. When I factored what those things would cost, I decided instead to just buy them their dresses instead. It's more practical and more appreciated!

And that way, if that 75 spa credit is offered when they book their trips, they can just use that toward getting their hair done. I'm sure most if not all the girls wil just do their own makeup at that cost.

QA

I checked with about 5 or 6 hair stylists and Waves was the best deal I found.

Their website is Waves Beauty Salon Playa del Carmen by Canadian Hairstylist Trevor Kohlman | Wavesplaya.com

Not sure, I havn't asked about the hair/makeup/mani/pedi to give that to someone else. I will ask Karla if I decide to go with an outside vendor. Good idea! I didn't even think of that.

I'm going to get my girls travel bags with their monogrammed initials from LL Bean (a family member works there and can get me a discount) and I was going to get their jewelry as well. But that's as far as I got. I might just end up paying for them to get their hair done too. I mean they are paying to come down to the wedding anyways. They already paid for their dresses so I'm too late for that. I will definitely check out Waves salon's website and try and figure out the costs. My cousin is a hairdresser and is coming to the wedding and I havn't decided if I want to bother her with doing our hair or not. She's coming to the wedding and using it as a vacation and she has three children to get ready for the wedding, nevermind herself. I want to check out my other options just in case I decide not to ask her. Thanks!

To answer your other question....I believe I have the 2010 prices. I only have the package prices and the price list from the spa. I don't have any of the floral prices though. That was going to be my next step.

Some things are slow some are fast. I got a bad deal from a TA, and I was devasted that it seemed all plans down the drain. But now i've got a couple of great ones. We are booking the flights next week and the wedding is already done.

now its up to figure out decorations and gifts and such. I'm thinking of a beach bag for each couple with variety of stuff. First aid kit, water gun (for the boys.. i mean men lol) maybe a towel.. not sure. this is the fun stuff... just need everything booked!!! And then I will feel better.

THose are really nice gifts. I think the travel bags are such a cute idea. I'm looking for a good website/stores for their jewelry, any suggestions? I may just have them do whatever they want for shoes & jewelry since I already bought their dresses, but if I find a really good deal, I'd like to get them their jewlery and give it to them at the bridal shower.

As for their shoes at first I wanted them to all match since their short dresses, but now I think I'm just gonna tell them to wear any pair of silver heels they want. What r you doing about shoes?

As for the hair, how many bridesmaids do you have? If it's just a few, I would consider asking your cousin. I see what you mean about her having the kids and herself to worry about, but is she married? Can her husband take care of the kids? Honestly, seeing that it's sooo expensive to get it done at the resort, I would at least ask. Frame it as a joke and see how she reacts to test the water :) You could offer her the spa servies you're not using as a thank you gift.

Anyone have pics of their reception centerpiece inspirations? I am meeting with the florist at our site visit and want to bring pics to show him. Here's what I have so far:

Sort of want something whimsical like these first two with the fruit. Our colors are coral and hot pink.

I don't think peonies are available (for the first one), but maybe I could substitute another flower with big blooms like dahlias or hydrangeas?

This I thought was really unique. Are those pink hydrangeas? Anyone know?

This is from another BDW-er that got married at our resort & had her centerpieces done by Maya Diseno. I would substitute our colors and do hot pink gerber daisies and maybe orange on the tall orchids

Very nice centrepieces! I always found flowers a bit too expensive for what it is. As no one really plays a lot of attention, and it is gone the day after the wedding. After all the weddings I have been to, I can't remember any centrepiece or decor, except one that got a big ICE sculpture for their oyster bar (maybe it was more the oysters than the ice sculpture that captured my attention). My resort is charging $80 and up for each centrepiece..and extra arms and legs for decors and misc..
I haven't really look into it yet, but I would probably do the minimal and put the flower funding into my tennis bracelet fund...kekeke

I would almost consider seeing if you can pay someone in your group to learn how to do hair and then have them do your bridesmaid's hair. Going offsite will likely be too time consuming and likely not cheaper. Go luck and let us know how it goes!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
