Any 2011 Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Hey, ive just been reading another thread on here about "The night before!" Are you ladies spending it with your FI? or are you going to stay in seperate rooms and "try" to avoid each other until the wedding... Im not sure what were doing with this... I wouldnt mind doing the "traditional" thing but i also think it would be kinda nice to spend our last single night together.... I just dont know.... think i might leave this one upto FI to decide :-)

Im just curious as to what you ladies are doing?

I wasnt too fussed about keeping apart until my friend got married recently and it was so sweet when they said goodbye to each other and the thought that they would see each other again for the first time when she walked down the aisle really got me and made me all teary .... so I think I'm gonna do the traditional thing makes it a little more special I think when he sets eyes on you!

I dont think its too early its not like your buying the small items its the big important ones!!

So far i've put a deposit on;

Photographer
Resort
Rings (the price of metal wont get any better!)
Knock off dress (early incase I don't like and have to go looking for another dress I like which was impossible to begin with)

I think ive not really given it much thought with it being a DW, I think i will have a word with FI as i think this is probably the one thing weve never realy mentioned!! But ur friends story is lovely :-) x

And same with you with your planning, your so organised... I really feel im put to shame by you lovely's!! LOL :-) I need to get my butt into gear!!! x

No way! We are definitely going to spend the night together before the wedding, i´ve already booked the kids out to spend that night, and the next two with their grandparents! Never look a gift horse in the mouth!
We´ll get ready separately, but want to spend as much time together as we can, one of us is always at work at the moment. sad.gif
The main reason we booked to go away is so that we didn´t have to get involved with all the wedding stuff, just have a great holiday, get married and have a good piss up!

we are thinking that we would spend the night apart, but thinking it could be hard to not run into each other during the day since our ceremony isn't until 4pm. it would be nice to not see each other up until the last moment - absence makes the heart grow fonder msnwink.gif

i've heard that a few couples plan a "first look" before the ceremony for some photos and alone time before you're surrounded by everyone, so we're considering that as well.

You're right! the price of metal just keep climbing! Better start looking at that too. I'd like to order a knockoff dress for the TTD, good tip to leave time in case I don't like or something goes wrong. Thanks!

Wow, lots to of posts to catch up on after the weekend:)

With bringing the rings - I will definitely be bringing my ring to Mexico, but it won't be leaving my hand at all! I'll just wear it on my right hand for the ceremony, then switch it back over the wedding band afterwards. I agree with those of you that say you'll miss it too much! I won't be bringing it with me to Africa this summer, and I dread taking it off on the day I leavesad.gif My fiance jokes that he doesn't know if I'll be crying most over leaving the dog, the ring, or him haha. I got a simple silver band to wear while I am there though, so I don't feel too naked.

Nicy - wow, 9 years engaged?! I didn't realize it had been that long! That's incredible, I think I would've been planning the whole time haha.

As for kids, we definitely aren't planning to have any human kids for a long time:) Right now the "plan" is to wait till I'm 35, and I'll be 28 when we get married. Who knows how that'll work out, but we really don't want them any time sooner! We both love to travel and travel frequently (usually at least 2 big trips a year), and we would hate to have kids and their expenses get in the way of that haha. We have 2 big dogs and they'll be our only children for a long time.

I'm all about tradition (and superstition!) on this one, so we won't be seeing each other on the day of the wedding until I walk down the aisle. I'm not sure yet where he'll be spending the night before the wedding, I'm assuming his brother's room, but we'll work that out next year. Then, the day of the wedding we're paying for him, the groomsmen, and my bridesmaids' significant others to all go on a day activity of some sort (probably golf or deep sea fishing) so that us girls can have the beach/resort to ourselves without any worry of running into him!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
