I was just reading through the recent posts and I really feel like even though I HATE that any of us have to go through such familial anguish surrounding our weddings, that there definitely is comfort in knowing that I'm not alone in any of this! My family is pretty traditional/conservative and can not for the life of them understand why I'd want to get married in Mexico. They all continuously talk about the financial burden of the trip yet they go on elaborate vacations every single year. PLUS, it's not like anyone ever offered to contribute anything to the wedding in the first place!!!
SO...while it's frustrating, I try to remember that we are all going through this and past DW brides always comment on how much fun everyone has, how special the day was and that they wouldn't change a thing. After all, it's our wedding and we should celebrate the start of our new lives in the way that best reflects us!!!
(end rant)
Although it is horrible it is nice to know we are not alone! I agree with what you say! I am thinking positive thoughts and know the day will be special for us regardless of issues along the way! Like Nicy says "well said"....

Yeah were maybe thinking of doing that cross reference thing with the bookings... i take it if someone drops out we wouldnt be held responsible for their cost?! not that i expect it to happen but you never know!!

xoxo
Yes i will keep my eyes and ears out too! Between us we will be on top of it all - not long now! I was talking about it today with friends and it just fills me with excitement talking about it :o)

I agree planning and anticipating process is very exciting, even I still feel upset thx to my dad, my face lights up whenever I am checking the sampling menu for my site visit, talking to my friends about it, reading threads on this forum, checking photographers' blog posted with new pics of DW brides.

Weddings2go - wedding shoes and bridal shoes
What i found when searching for wedding shoes online all the UK sites have the same shoes - unless you go to an independent store. They all seem to be the same price as well. There isnt much variation.

Same thing in Canada, if you are looking for white satin shoes..they all look the same and around the same price regardless which stores you are going. Cole Haan offers white wedding shoes with Nike Air technology, which can be a nice choice, because it is more comfy (but they aren't cheap). On the other hand, a lot of brides are going for silver sandals/shoes. Keep in mind that we can always wear a silver sandal after our wedding...but the white satin shoes must be dyed in black...otherwise it is a bit weird to wear it as casual shoes.

Wow... after reading all these new posts about families, I'm feeling very lucky! The worst that I have dealt with (so far! There is still plenty of time and I don't want to jinx myself haha) is that none of my grandparents are going. This was actually very hard on me, and caused a lot of drama when we first decided on the DW. My mom cried a lot when she found out her parents wouldn't come, but none of my grandparents (all 4 are still alive) are in shape for that kind of travel, so I understand. I finally had to just accept having it without them, though it still kills me to think aboutsad.gif My fiance's grandparents, on the other hand, will all be there! I'm very jealous, haha.

I am nervous that as we get closer, other important people will start to drop out. I attended my friend's DW in St. Lucia, and she any time I talked to her in the months leading up to the wedding, there was always someone who now wasn't coming (none of their grandparents made it either!), some person who called them selfish for having a DW, and some person who made her cry over it. But in the end, everyone who attended had the MOST amazing time ever, and she still says how is was absolutely her dream wedding. Even despite all those people who tried to ruin it for her in the time leading up to the wedding. So I keep reminding myself that in the end, we'll forget all about these problems and just remember our dream weddings:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
