WOW, NOW I am so behind! With more than 365 days to go...I am still waiting for my bonus to come, and then start buying my dress, rings, BM dresses...favors...etc.
So far, I built 75% of my website, sent out the STDs, will go for my on-site inspection and menu tasting in June before picking my menu.
Where are u going for your honeymoon? My FI decided to goto China, Hong Kong and Thailand for 3 weeks.

Bonnie- Honeymoon probably another weekend in Mexico later in the year we probably have a real honeymoon either in Tahiti or Asia trip. My brother and I are planning to go to Hong Kong end of July. I got so many trips coming up this year. And weddings to attending. We got invited to so many weddings one wedding I want to attend that is out in france. We also got invited to a wedding in Shanghai and Taiwan. At least you got a head start on your wedding process. blah...but I don't think I can go to half of the wedding that is oversea I need to same my vacation days. You'll get things put all together. That will be great going to asia for your honeymoon.

Don't worry ladies, who are watching prices to come out and wait for them to go down...

The prices will go down! I goto Mexico once every year (always went with packages), they usually go down when there are 3-5 months left, after that, they usually stay firm and sold out. A few exceptions like last year, when the east side of Canada was having crappy weather the whole summer, the price didn't went down that much, and of course...when there is a "potential" hurricane ...hitting Cancun...no one wants to go, and the price went really low.

It's kind of freaking me out, because my TA "thinks" they'll go down, but there's no guarantee, and I can't ask my guests to pay $2200 each (with flight) to come to our wedding! I was hoping to stay more around $1500-$1700 with flight for 7 nights. So now I'm considering changing the resort, and losing my wedding deposit, unless prices go down. Sigh. I hate being stressed out this early in the game!
Mischaka and Cjb0arder13-

OMG I am in the EXACT same situation. I booked the Lindo for our 01/22/11 wedding and paid the deposit to secure our date based on an estimate our TA gave of around 1596pp for a week.

Well, as of today, the "rack rate" is $2139!! I know she said estimate, but $500-600 more?!

I contacted a diff TA who specializes in DWs and it was explained to me that Iberostar resorts have not negotiated their 2011 contracts with tour operators (such as Apple, Funjet, etc) yet and that they will do so ANY DAY NOW. As soon as they do, the rates should go down.

This may be the case for you girls too -- hope so!

To add insult to injury, my sister's coworker informed her today that she'd been to the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo recently and she told her that she thought $1500 for a week "sounded high" LOL. At this point I would welcome 1500 with open arms!

I made the mistake of opening my fat mouth and telling a few friends & family members that it should be in the neighborhood of 1500 plus or a minus a few hundred $. Whoops doh.gif

Yeah! For Asia, you will need at least 2 weeks of vacation days to make it worth it! Tahiti is awesome! Of course HK too, so much good food and cheap clothes! You will love it!

Yeah we can't wait for Hong Kong! eat and shop. Hopefully I got come back being fat lol hahaa. Yeah we figured 2 weeks would be good to take off. Since we are going to waste 2 days. One day flying there and another coming back.

Thanks for the words of wisdom, Linhy. I feel so rushed because we just started planning our DW about a month ago! I do need to cool it though.

I see you're using Beach Bum too. I just contacted them yesterday and am pretty sure we will be using them. I spoke to Nanda and she was sooo helpful! She answered every question I had.

Right now we just have to wait because Iberostar hasn't signed any contracts with the tour operators yet. As soon as I know our guests will have a reasonable rate, I will be much more at ease.

I don't know if I asked you this already, but are you doing a room block or having guests book individually thru Beach Bum?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
