Any 2011 Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

I hadn't even thought of a wedding gift for my FI...but the other day he mentioned he knew exactly what he was going to get me as a wedding gift. Which he is someone who doesn't know what to get for birthdays, or xmas unless I tell him exactly...but he said this is different because it's a wedding gift! I better get thinking what to get him...maybe a nice watch...and something else.

They are all so pretty/girlie! Your FI will love it!!!!
YAY! Thank you! I guess I'm more of the frivolous type, esp when it comes to a wedding gift that will mark "our day". And Tyler and I are kind of known for ruining ideas for gifts b/c if we need a new watch, new ipod, etc, we just go out and get it ourselves. We are not good about waiting for birthdays to come around. Plus I don't know too many guys, esp mine, that wouldn't like these cheesy.gif

I love them all, but I think 1, 2, 4 and 6 are my fav (I get to have 4 outfits). I do have some different things coming in the mail though, so I'm sure my mind will change a few more times between now and August!

I'm sure there is someone in your area that will do them. There are a couple different styles of boudior, many photographers do the more romantic/traditional style. Mine is more of the fun, big hair, lots of make-up kind but that's more what I want. Either way, I'm positive you would be able to find one, or at least one willing to do them for you. When I talked to Beth she said that more times than not, the bride is a little self-conscious and nervous, but she helps them pose and get into it and by the end they are loving it!

Hi Raychel --

Are you just having guests purchase their own flights individually then?

I am going to call our resort today and try to secure the rate directly through them. Our TA says the resort's 2011 rates aren't out yet, but I want to hear it from the horse's mouth.

If I am successful in getting the rates from them, then maybe I will do what you're doing & have guests book directly with the resort.

Did you by chance compare the costs of doing it as a package versus group rate? I have heard that package is almost always cheaper, but haven't investigated this myself.

Yes we're going to have them book their own flights. My main concern with setting up packages through a TA is that in order to get the best price, everyone was going to have to travel on the same days. Some of my family wants to go down early so they can spend some more time in Mexico because we've already told them that within a couple days after the wedding, everyone's gotta go because we are then officially on our honeymoon! ; ) I'm sure that packages are probably cheaper, but I guess I was willing to make everyone pay a little more in exchange for the flexibility of them being able to make their own itinerary (and I think most of my guests would agree with it).

Another thing that I'm absolutely terrified about is getting to Mexico and finding out that us our some of our guests got bumped from their room. I've heard that it happens down there a lot, but if you book directly through the hotel then you pretty much don't have to worry about being bumped at all.

Mischaka - Um, ya! Wouldn't it be nice to roll in to the photo shoot looking like that! I have a feeling those outfits might look a little different on me than they do on them! ; )

I love 1 and 3! Where are they fromhuh.gif I haven't decided yet on the Boudoir photos. I know my fiance really wants them, but I just kind of hate the thought of there being a book in our house of me in lingerie. What if our kids or grandkids find it one day?? Hahaha. I'm thinking about it though.

My fiance loves to scuba dive and I'm terrified of sea life. But I'm considering getting scuba certified and going diving with him in Mexico as his wedding gift. It's something he has always wanted for us to do together and I have always refused. But I'm thinking its time I get over the fear, and I know it'd be the best thing I could give him. Also, we're moving to Hawaii after the wedding (he's Army), so I know he'd love it if he could have a scuba partner out there! I just need to psych myself up to do it, right now I panic at the thoughtsad.gif

Michelle - my fiance is turning 30 on Monday! It's a big deal, the big 3-0, I know he's freaking out a little, haha:) We're having a big party on Saturday in DC, which is why we're flying up there for the weekend (its where our friends and family are)

Diva - My fiance actually does not want to do wedding gifts. He tells me the engagement ring is my gift, haha. At my MOH's wedding last year, they got each other expensive gifts (~$1,000 each), and he thought it was ridiculous when we could spend that $2000 on something we really need. Plus I'm a grad student, so any money I spend is really loan money and he'll end up paying for it anyways haha.

So technically we're "not doing gifts", however I do want to do something special for him and that's why I'm leaning towards the scuba certification.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
