Any 2011 Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies,

It's so great to see some 2011 brides on here. I'm getting married April 6th, 2011 at Dreams Cancun and I am so excited. We are putting down our deposit this week. We are probably going to have about 40-50 people.

I totally understand what many of you are going through right now trying to pick a resort. I was trying to find something that everyone would like and was losing what "WE" wanted for "OUR" wedding. I could've been a travel agent for Mexico at the end of my searching but I kept coming back to Dreams Cancun. I fell in love with the gazebo and the lighthouse. I'm from the Maritimes so I just felt like I could have pics that looked like I was home at the lighthouse and the gazebo was just stunning. They also have a nice pier in the water for some great pics. It had everything that we wanted for our wedding. Our choices were also very limited because we have kids attending our wedding so we needed a family-friendly resort.

We are going to spend the week with our family and friends and than move to a more private adults-only resort afterwards for a honeymoon. Our DWS told us it will probably cost between $1300-$1500 for an all-inclusive 7 day package for our guests so we thought the cost was reasonable as well.

I'm seeing so many beautiful wedding dresses on here and it's making me want to go shopping!!! I decided I was going to wait until June to look for my dress when my MOH moves back home but it is so tempting! haha

I'm having a hard time right now trying to pick a photographer. It would probably be cheaper to just go with the photographer on the resort but I only plan on getting married once so I want our pics to be amazing and I want a video as well.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a place that does great pics and video? I emailed Claudia Rodriguez bc I heard great reviews but I haven't heard back from her yet.

I got off the planning for a bit since I feel I have so much time but it will be here in no time. I'm back in planning mode again so look out! haha

Tara :-)

I am still unable to get our date confirmed with the riu palace riviera maya. They are saying they can't book weddings for feb since they don't know if a judge will be working?!?! I am worried cause we might have up to 80 guess that will need to book their room as well. It all just seems alittle shady.

Welcome, Tara! It sounds like you have a very good start on things! I understand where you're coming from with the photographers. Phots are very important to me, and since there are SO many photographers that shoot the riviera maya area with so many pricing options and packages, I contacted about 10 photogs and got price sheets from each one of them and literally made an excal spreadsheet with the pros and cons of each one. I know it sounds a little anal, but that was the only way I could narrow them down!

Hi Ladies!

Our original time line was aiming for oct/nov of this year, but had so many family members complaining that they wanted to come but couldn't then. I settled for Feb.....although today I just found out my best friend is having her wedding just a couple weeks before mine, and now I'm not sure we're going to be able to go. sad.gif

We're still waiting to hear back from our TA with some pricing so we can finally decide on a resort! At this point I'd settle for anything just to have it decided!

We are looking at booking the Riu Palace Riviera Maya hopefully for May 2011
we know we definatly want Mexico and we are just waiting on May 2011 prices to come out at our Travel agents. As soon as we get these we will most certainly be on our way to book.....

Who else is 2011, when and where?

Hi Nicola,

Im on that list of those tying the knot in 2011. We are thinking of December 2011 in Punta Cana, DR. Still in the process of choosing a resort. Hopefully it will be decided soon.

Hello everyone! Yeah!!! 2011 brides!!! We are early planners. FI and I are looking to buy a house soon, so we wanted to wait till early next year to get married, that way we will have a better idea on budget. I think the challenge for being an early planner is not being able to do as much planning when pricing is not available.

FutureMrsYak, youâ€re my date twin, hopefully. You are so far ahead of me, we havenâ€t done formal STDâ€s yet, mostly by mouth. Like you, we are still waiting to find out prices at the resort. We can reserve our date, but no pricing. We want to make sure itâ€s affordable. Love your dress!

Nicyx, I wish my sister could come also; she is having a baby in August and she has 3 other kids, so I doubt sheâ€ll be able to come. Were thinking about having our AHR in July before our wedding instead of after.

Thats great! I was surprised I haven't come across anyone else with my date...I thought with all of those 1's it would be a popular date!! I thought I was too early with my dress but it won't be in until the end of May...and I've always ben a planner and like to have things done! And I can tell you that it is driving me nuts that my resort doesn't have prices listed for rooms yet!! What resort are you looking at?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
