Any 2011 Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

bikegirl - Figuring out what hotels we are going to visit is my problem! There are just so many and because we are going to have children there we want to look as many kid friendly resorts. All of the resorts I've fallen in love with have been adult only sad.gif

AI's I am leaning towards are the Riu Palace. I think this is the one with the 3 different priced hotels on one property - as I said, I'm still trying to figure this all out and I've been staking these boards so much I think I've confused myself! Iberostar, Playacar Palace and Dreams Riviera Cancun. Any other suggestion?

As for the smaller hotel in the heart of playa we will check out La Tortuga, Playa Palms, Blue Parrot Suits and Blue Parrot 5th ave. I'm also going to head over to Kool, Mamitas, and Wickey's to check out ceremony/reception venues. FI and I really have our hearts set on Kool for the ceremony and reception so I'm hoping we fall in love with it and the price will be right!

Hello Everyone

I am getting married July 2011. I originally thought I was going to have it a the Riu Palace Riviera Maya, but now am leaning towards a Palace resort in Cancun. Palace gives alot of incentives (free private reception, cocktail hour, 7 days comp, and kids are considered under 1cool.gif. I am headed down in March and staying at the RPRM, and am doing a tour of the Cancun Palace. I have also stayed at the Sun Palace and thought the food was very good and the service outstanding. They are giving me a price of 320 per night based on double occupancy, which i think is pretty reasonable. The RPRM gave me 350.

mexbride83- I'm looking at Playacar Palace right now and love it, except for that whole beach thing....Dreams Riviera Cancun and the Riu Palace Riviera Maya. aaahhhh research hell!

RaychelRae- where did you hear about the beach renovation at PP? That would be awesome if they got a decent beach, or even one within a few minutes walk would work for me.

Nicyx- I love the list! Wow, there's quite a few of us getting married in May, I better pick my resort fast, lol!

I'm gonna take my favorites and have FI look them over- time to have a fresh pair of eyes look at it, especially since he hasn't done any research!

Bikegirl - I am with Riri on this one, we have kids coming so that narrowed down our choices as wellsad.gif So from your list, for Mexico:

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun - adults only

Excellence Playa Mujeres - adults only

Paradisus Riviera Cancun - This is another one we seriously considered, and it's not 100% off the board. But I put it is our "4th choice", as we had to rate them for our TA. I love it and it's very similar to Dreams Riviera Cancun, both large hotels, chains, beautiful, etc. But like Nicola we used Tripadvisor to make our final decisions, and the reviews for Dreams are better than they are for Paradisus. So that's why we went with Dreams over it.

Raychel - I didn't hear about the beach renovation and I'm so jealous you are doing the chapel!! I love love love the pictures of it! And my family is Catholic so my parents really liked the idea of actually being in a church. But I sent my top 3 resorts to my bridesmaids (Ceiba del Mar, Dreams Riviera Cancun, and Playacar Palace) and they all voted for the first two because of the beach. My fiance is a diver and snorkeler so he liked the beach at Playacar better actually, haha. I cannot wait to see your pictures, the chapel ones and the walk to the resort all turn out so amazing.

Kurly - I have the opposite problem that you do. My fiance is a bit TOO into the resort selection, and every time I think we have our minds made up, he finds a new one that he thinks we need to "seriously consider". That's why we've looked at 9231578 and are going insane! But luckily the resort is the only part of the planning that he'll get to into, and that's because he loves to travel. So I can't complain too much:) That's cool you're a fellow Virginian! My brother's wife's family is all from Richmond too.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
