I am trying to reserve a wedding date for feb 2011 and having a hard time getting a response from the resport--we want riu palace riviera maya...they keep saying it is too early to book a wedding since they don't have the schedule yet from the judges and ministers.

It seems strange to me for many reasons, first of all, we are booking a date, not a specific time...don't they do wedding everyday (except sunday) we may have up to 80 guests, and it is only fair to give them advance notice of our wedding. The other things that is super fishy, is that the 2011 wedding packages are already posted on their website. we really don't want to have to find a new resort, since we love the choice we have made...any advice.

I just want to know if any other brides have been able to book a wedding a year in advance and at what resorts? I really want to get something in writing!!

thanks,

Jenna

Hey Jenna,

I went on Rui Place Riviera Maya's website today and requested Jan. 15th, 2011 as our wedding date. I''ll let you know when I hear a response from them. I wouldn't get too stressed about not getting a confirmation yet as you already put your request in, therefore, you'll most likely take precedence over others that do so after you. I also talked to a TA today and she said that they normally don't release air/resort packages for a couple more months. However, tt does seem a little odd that they won't tell you yes b/c they do weddings everyday but who knows. Keep on them : ) I've heard that resorts are generally slow at getting back to brides. Remember their on "Caribbean time."

Hello Ladies :-)

adridshanne... Im like you, Ive been planning like its this year, haha, not bought anything yet but know everything I want the only thing i havent fully planned is OOT bags as id never heard about these before untill i came on here, LOL, and what a fab idea... so these will be my next assignment.... :-) If I knew how to work powerpoint properly i would no doubt have the ame as you but instad i just have a wee file set up

on my desk top with everything in.

Michelle2011... No its me with the pictures not your laptop, not sure why they wont show but im sure one day i will figure it out. I LOVE Maggie Sottero dresses I am also going to be having one of her dresses (hopefully) the pictures i tried to post are Maggie dresses :-) Great minds think a like, What dress style have you chosen? I am torn between a few of them, I need to go and try the 1s i like on but my fave two are "Sterling" and "Reese" but i have about 5 of her dress saved in my wedding favourites!!!!

Jenna... We are booking through a travel agent here in the UK and lucky for us they sort all that out for us, so i really can't offer any advice about that only what fsuambs has said :-) but after reading other threads on here I really wouldnt worry to much, I understand you need to give notice to family and friends but from what others have said on here that seems like the norm I think for them to be quite slow to respond but as fsuambs said when they do get back to you you will most definatly get the date you want as your request is already in :-)

Hello all!!

Anyone know anything about Azul Sensatori, Moon Palace (Riviera Maya) or Gran Bahia Tulum? My wedding planner suggested these resorts and i'm undecided which way to go. I've checked out the Site for Azul Sensatori and It looks amazing. However, I've read some negative reviews on it from trip advisor. Gran Bahia and Moon Palace look amazing as well. Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi girls,

So happy to hear from other brides that are already planning for 2011. We got engaged in July, 2009 and decided on a date in May 2011 pretty quickly. I was SO happy for 2010 to come around so people will soon stopping asking us "Don't you mean THIS Mayhuh.gif""

We already put a deposit down at the Royal in PDC but are now having 2nd thoughts because communication is so bad there. We're going on a site visit THIS May to check out the Royal and also Hacienda Tres Rios which isn't talked about much on the forum but is gorgeous!! They also only do 1 wedding per day which I love.

Other than that, we've booked DJ Ivan and are planning to book a photographer in our area that will travel with us. Once we're for sure on the resort, it will be save the date time!!!

So excited to follow everyone's planning :-)

I have sent my booking form, and deposit to hold the date. The wedding contract was sent to me today. I was speaking to consultants at the resort more than one year in advance, and they told me I could submit my booking form and deposit at any point to hold the date. We are getting married at Real Gran Porto. I find it odd that you can't atleast save the date yet!

I've talked to several resorts so far in this process and none of them have expressed any problem with reserving the wedding date more than a year in advance. I would figure that for them, the earlier they fill the opening the better...more money for the resort, right?!?
You probably can't book your trip but that part can wait. Communication with the resorts can be tough sometimes. Do you have a TA that can go to bat for you?

Hi Shelia,

I am actually going to visit the Azul Sensatori in 5 weeks :)

My TA suggested it and I am interested in checking it out. There is a thread that I have checked out specifically for the AS that has a lot of info...kinda tough to go through 400+ pages but its useful and the girls are helpful. I can let you know my experience when we get back and if we decided to go for it...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
