ROR - Booking wedding and rooms

Recommended Posts

Hi! My fiance and I are planning on a Feb or April 2011 wedding. I was wondering if anyone who had their wedding scheduled for 2011 actually has the wedding date reserved with the RIU. How far in advance will the hotel take the ceremony booking? How far in advance can you book your rooms and obtain pricing? I gues this is the piece that is stumping me right now and what to do. I've gotten mixed information on it and would like to give our guests a year's notice so they can know what to budget rather than 6 months to budget. Any help would be appreciated.

Has anyone stayed in the Jr Suites Gardenview at the ROR and if so, was the view nice?

Welcome! You've come to a great place for information. I am currently planning my ROR wedding for Nov 12, 2010.

I have a few guests that needed as much time as possible to budget/plan to attend our wedding. We were engaged in July 2009 and by Aug we had decided that we wanted to do a DW wedding. We sent out Save the Date cards in Sept 2009 but didn't have a specific date we just said Nov 2010 (we had decided on the month at least). This gave our invited guest lots of notice and we just updated our wedding website (lots of free sites on the internet) when we had a specific date booked.

Good luck & have fun!!

My advice .... from my experience is get a hold of the hotel ASAP and book the date of the wedding!!! I originally wanted a January 2010 date but I waited until April 2009 to get a hold of hotel(under advice of my travel agent). There were no available dates left until April...even that was tough to get!! It's a really popular spot...and it books up fast!! If you have a particular time and day of the week that you want I would try to get a hold of them.

I was able to get my date reserved with the RIU at the time that I wanted. I'm hoping I I can get travel rates so I can make my reservation within the 90 day timeframe they give you to confirm the wedding date. I'm looking forward to this forum and it's helpful information.

i just booked my wedding for feb 2011. i found a TA who has helped me find pricing for our guest. i was told that the pricing does not come out til about 10 months before the date of travel... my TA contacted the provider and was able to get me the pre-published prices...she has been a great help in this area. good luck with everything and congrats :)

hiccups - i have guest flying out of TO and Calgary. TO prices are a bit better..and we were quoted $1584 + $176 (taxes) for a double room with a garden view. What prices were you quoted? My TA said that when the prices get published, if it comes in lower we get the lower price; and if it comes in higher we get the price we were quoted. I had checked with a few other travel agencies and was given similar prices. Could you let me know what prices you were quoted? Thx :)

Hi Hiccups and Ames: We are getting married in April 2011 and have had a hard time getting pricing from the TA's. I finally rec'd some yesterday...$1839 pp taxes in through Flight Centre (out of TO). I was told the best prices come out in June/July. Did anyone mention to you that after 10 people book, the 11th person's trip is free? You are only responsible for the taxes.

Hi Martini: Thanks for sharing! I'm interested to see how the prices come out in June/July. And yes, that 1 in 11 go free deal is quite the bonus :) We are planning on just distributing the discount amongst everyone once we figure out our numbers. Are the prices better out of NB?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
