Why do people INSIST on stressing you????

We live in New Brunswick too and I KNEW I didn't want the wedding in ONT because I have too much family, most I don't really see/talk to but would be expected to go to the wedding. So it came down to a DW or a wedding here in NB. When we did the costing for my family to come to NB would be the SAME cost as going to Jamaica but for Matt and I the cost difference of going to Jamaica vs NB was 50% so it was a no-brainer to hold it in Jamaica. But my family is complaining they want the wedding in Ontario. So, I said, "Fine, we're going to Jamaica for the wedding but if you want to put on the reception in Ontario we'll fly back there before going home to NB." And that's what they are doing, at no additional cost for us, so it's a win-win & the complainers no longer have anything to complain about - that is until they see the wedding pictures in Jamaica and they learn just how much fun they missed! :)
I know what you mean.... my MOH wants to book outside of my WC/TA because she found cheaper deals on places like expedia.com and such.... even though she thought the price was good when we first signed the contract with RMB!

But SweetLuna, how were you able to get around the whole 80% Riu requirement? Are your guests booking directly through you or through the resort?

Man I love this board!! I have been feeling the same way! The same people over and over again asking the same questions: "what's the name of the resort?" "The cost is what?" "When are the payments due??" Arrgggghhh!! Enough with the questions already! And then comes the, wow that place is really expensive! Ya think? Yeah I know I picked it and you had more than 2 years to save money!! Now if you couldn't get your s*** together in all that time...well guess what, just don't come!

I mean I got a whole host of folks staying in time shares...wtfhuh.gif I mean at first I was like ok that's fine but then realized that they would not be able to hang out with us at the resort. So I found out that there is a huge sale going on for the resort and hoping some of these el cheapos will get in on that deal. But then, I gotta keep hearing about the cost of the flight! Man can a sista get a break?! Even FI joined in with the others and he had to get it too!!

Keep moving forward with your plans, you decided to have a DW for a reason. If people can't support you, then to hell with them. Something I have learned in this process is that you really learn who has your back and who doesn't. Good luck girl. Let us know how it goes.

We're expecting this as well. When we first started telling family members about our DW plans, someone mentioned that it's expensive for them. We tried to make it clear that if they can't make it, then not to stress themselves out. We would love it if everyone could come, but we'll just be happy if it's just us and our parents (who we're helping pay for).

Just remember it's your day, and just drown out the negativity. or if u hear more excuses, tell them to stay home. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
