To book or not book a wedding through Expedia!?

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies,

So I have been looking into pricing for a wedding at DPV. Expedia seems to offer competitive pricing...with that said is it a good idea to book a group through an online travel source? I had been using a WC but it seems to really slow the process down (A week here of there to hear back). Looking for any advice on the best way to book a DW.

Thanks! :)

Well there is a difference between book travel through Expedia and a wedding. You are going to have to work with the WC regardless or where you book/how you book. They are your liasion for everything wedding related at the resort.

But if you get a good rate for group travel through expedia instead of using a TA...I say go for it. But there are definite benefits to using one in my opinion!

Good luck :)

I would highly recommend to not book ANYTHING through Expedia, Travelocity or a service like that. I make reservations a lot for work and have had the worst experiences with these companies IF you have to cancel or change anything. I use them when searching for flights, however, when I find the best one, then I book through that particular airline's website.

We were also tempted to use expedia or orbitz for booking our wedding.

In the end we went with a TA that offered both in person and online booking options.

I am so glad we did because now we can offer a great package deal to all our guests and still take advantage of various discounts/promotions.

Plus if something were to go wrong we have a great contact and don't need to depend on a 1-800 #

I highly recommend using a TA, most will assist be there to support your guest with travel and once you reach the resort. If there are issues with their flight they have support from the TA.

Using the various online sites it makes it difficult to manage and keep up with guest arrivals. TAs will provide a summary of guest arrivals and departures.

There is always going to be one or two guest that will try to find their own travels online the only thing you can do is suggest they use yours...but if you are like me. I just want what works best for my guest financially.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
