Inanna, I would love to see more pics of your wedding but I don't think I have the option to PM you yet. If you don't mind, I would really love to see more pics. My email is Kimzwedding@gmail.com. Have you heard of Pierre's? I am still debating between Cancun and the Keys. Thanks so much for sharing!

When my mom and I went to Key West in May for a planning trip we drive from Miami and stopped in Islamorada and ate at the Islamorada Fish Company....it was wonderful!! We originally stopped at the Cheeca Resort b/c I had considered getting married there, but it was WAY too snobby and they were rude to use when we got there so we went to the fish co. and it was sooo worth it.

Im getting married in Key West in Aug. and I am staying at the Southermost resort. I love it b/c it's right by Duval st so I can walk to all the fun bars and restaurants, but the hotel is in a quieter part of town. It has a private beach and cafe. We have some people coming who want to drink and have fun and other who just want to relax and enjoy the quiet, I feel like In KEY west you can do both. YOu make it waht you want. I would recommend it to anyone looking to get married in the Keys. There is something for everyone and tons of great places to stay and eat. I felt like the other keys locations didn't have a whole lot of things for people to do. I also didn't want people to have to drive or rent a car if they didn't want to.

Huongii - I'm emailing you a links to a slightly bigger wedding album (250 pics).

Pierre's is absolutely STUNNING! If we hadn't chosen a private estate for our wedding, Pierre's would have been at the top of our list. Right next to Pierre's (same owner) there's also Morada Bay Cafe, which has the same amazing views, but is more casual and affordable.

Is anyone running into random fees for weddings on the beach?  We are looking at booking 2 houses and the rental company told us there is a $1,000 fee for events on the beach and that we'd pay that anywhere else.  The fee doesn't include anything...its just the fee.  I feel if we're paying $12K for 2 huge houses we shouldn't have to pay an extra 1000 to use the beach in front!! thoughts??

Yes, this is pretty common everywhere.  I somewhat understand the logic - accidents are much more likely to happen with big gatherings, esp. for celebratory events where alcohol is involved (this is why many rental houses don't allow weddings at all).  We rented 2 beach houses in Islamorada for our wedding, but the owner agreed to waive the $1500 event fee...this was in 2009, so I doubt they waive this fee anymore.  Back when I was looking at properties, it seemed like newer owners were more willing to negotiate. Most rental agencies I contacted required a $1000-2000 event fee and were not willing to negotiate.

We are getting married at The Islander in June. My fiance and I go to Islamorada about once a month so we are very familiar with the area. We are having a very small wedding about 30 people and from what I found the Islander was the only place willing to negotiate the price, Casey has been great so far! Hair and makeup I am going to try Blue Bamboo, its only about a block away from the Islander and looks like a nice place, we will probably do our engagement pictures in Dec or Jan down there so I will let you know how my hair turns out. I read someone mentioned Case Morada resort for a wedding. We went there and talked to someone who was willing to work with us for such a small wedding up until we were ready to book then told us we needed to rent the entire resort, I thought that was very unprofessional and disappointing. Hope this helps and if anyone has questions feel free to ask, like I said we are there about once a month and also planning a wedding so it's nice to hear ideas or suggestions.

I ran into the same issue about the $1000.00 fee but when I explained that we were not having a caterer or anyone but the JP coming to the house. We are getting married in the backyard the only people coming to the wedding will be staying at the house....they agreed to waive the fee. This probably wouldn't work in you are having a larger wedding but I'm planning a backyard BBQ so it works for us :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
