Hello Everyone.

Here is our story. I am still finalizing details but we will be getting married in the fall somewhere in the Dominican Republic.

_____

We spent Christmas Eve with my family and had plans to drive to NYC to spend Christmas day with his family.

When we got home Christmas Eve night, we were getting ready to turn in for the night when he gave me this really sweet card saying I was the best thing that happened to him....blah blah. He called it my pre Christmas gift. I thought that was it and we would open our real gifts when we awoke Christmas morning, so I get up to finish my bed time routine.

When I get back in the bed he's sitting there and grabs my hand and asks me to marry him. I thought he was kidding as we had done this before. So I said no. Our running joke had always been, “I will know youâ€re serious when you ask me with a ring". He than said are you sure while opening the ring box. I didn't see the box at first. My response was OOOO I guess your serious this time. So of course I said yes and spent the early morning hours of Christmas morning cheesing with my mind racing about actually getting MARRIED!

So I spend the next few days just reveling in the idea that I am engaged. So as this was the week between holidays and my birthday is December 28th and Brandon's birthday is December 31st we typically both take the week off. This year Brandon couldn't get off which left me home alone all week during the day. On the morning of December 30th, Brandon had to go to work and I awake to find my engagement ring missing. Brandon had told me a few days before he was going to get my ring sized properly so I thought nothing of it.

Brandon called me from his office to tell me he had some surprises for me. He had made an appointment for a Manicure and Pedicure for me at a Spa. Now of course this excited me and I was very happy to go have my services. When I got home after my very relaxing hand and foot massage he was there waiting on me. Said he had a few other surprises. He suggested we have a date night and go out for dinner & movie so we get dressed and head out. When we get to the downtown area he tells me I need to blind fold myself. Of course I'm mortified and can't understand why. I could hear him snapping pictures of me blind folded.

So we drive around a bit longer and we finally stop driving. He comes around the car and still blind folded he takes me into a building, up an elevator, then into a room. He had booked a suite at a Bed and Breakfast for us for the evening. Of course I'm feeling so overwhelmed. But back to the task at hand, we had tickets to see Avatar in 10 minutes. So we head out of the B&B to the movie theater which is about a 5 min walk away 5 minutes in the coldest weather in history it felt like.

Movie over we head back to the B&B by cab to get the car to go to the restaurant for dinner. When we got to the car and the B&B, Brandon mentioned needing to go back upstairs for something. This didn't make sense to me so I start questioning him on why we couldn't just get in the car and go. But he insisted, so we went back up stairs.

When we get to the door of our room he hands me our video camera and tells me to hit record as soon as he opens the door. When I open the door there are candles and fresh rose petals all around the room and the Jacuzzi tub. The music is going it is just beautiful scene so I'm walking around the room and when I come out from the bathroom Brandon gets down on one knee and says he wants to spend the rest of his life with me and this is my real engagement ring.

The little ring I had been flashing all week to everyone while people giving me the side eye was a Big Joke!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
