My best tip for a boudoir photoshoot is to get your makeup professionally done by either hiring a professional makeup artist or going to a department store and having it done at a Mac counter or something. I don't think that my pictures would have come out nearly as good if I did not have a professional artist.

Finley, your photos are gorgeous. Did you see Jennifer? I recognize the beads and the bed.

oooh, I'm super excited that you said that Kamilla! I'm scheduled with Jen on 3/19 & I can't wait! Did you guys get your hair done or do it yourself? My appt is in the AM so I'm having the make-up done, but there's no time for hair so I think I'll just blow it out & maybe throw in some curls.

Gorgeous pics btw!

I swear a week ago I wasn't going to do this....but the more I see other people's pics I really want to do it. and then the FI said something today about having a pic of me in some sexy lingerie...so I do believe this will be a great idea. I just need to go to my kickboxing classes 4 times instead of 3 times a week. lol

I just need to find some in NY that are not to expensive.

Mischaka you should totally do it!! It seriously is sooo empowering & I think every woman should do this for herself! I actually did one in Chicago in Jan (as my bachelorette party), but it was more pinup-ey (if that's a word) & I had really wanted more boudoir-type shots so I'm doing it again out here. Then I'll combine pics from both shoots into a book.

Like finley & kamilla, I'm using Jen from Jenerations photography. She's in Queens & seems really great to work with! Prices are not super cheap, but better than all of the others I had looked into. You should definitely email her.

Be yourself! I was sooo freaked out and worried about everything. And just think you look beautiful and your fiance loves you for you! This will blow him away. You know your body the best so let your inner sexyness come out and have fun.

I think some long pearls are your best accessory!

Good luck!

Karen, I did my hair myself, I just put in hot rollers and tousled it a bit, sprayed hairspray and that's it. I think you want a bit of a messy look for that bedroom hair, gettiing your hair professionally done isn't worth it IMO. Are you using Oksana for makeup? If so, you are going to be so thrilled. I literally screamed in excitement when I saw myself after she applied the makeup, she is very talented. Oksana is worth it 100%.
I hope you share your pictures. I love looking at Jen's work. I am booked for another appt with her in a few months, I hope to lose some weight by then.

Ha! You're doing another one! That's freaking awesome! After I did my 1st one in Chicago I immediately said "I want to do this again!". It's so much fun!

But, I have to say you look absolutely beautiful & I honestly can't see where you're thinking you can lose weight from! I know we're our own worst critics, but from an objective eye, I think you look great!!

I'm so glad I was referred to Jen too. She takes amaaazing pictures & these are exactly the style I'm looking for. The hot rollers is what I planned too - I agree the $ is way better spent on the makeup & yes, I am having Oksana. She does beautiful work & I figured there's no way I can get my eyes to look that good on my own so the extra $100 is worth it.

Did you come from the city? How long did it take you to get there? And was it easy to find? I'll be getting a zipcar b/c she said it's not really near public transportation but I still need to contact her for her address; I don't think she ever got back to me with it.

Karen - thanks for the compliments. It's all Jen though...she's AMAZING and so easy to work with.

ABSOLUTELY get your makeup done. I had Oksana and below is a close up...she is AWESOME!!!!!

I couldn't agree more about this being empowering....it felt so awesome to get done and it was soooo worth the money.

Karen - thank you, you are too kind. There were some photos that I cringed at so I would like to lose a few pounds for the next session.

Yes I came from the city via LIRR to the Bayside station. It was fairly easy and fast to get there (about 25 minutes from Penn Station) and Jen was gracious enough to pick me up because she was driving by the neighborhood, otherwise it would have been a 10 minute cab ride from the LIRR Bayside station. If you'll be driving yourself, I think that it's a very easy trip, but I might be biased since I grew up in Bayside. Just mapquest it and you'll be fine.

finleys - you look beautiful, Oksana did your makeup beautifully. I agree that this is very empowering. I had a great time doing it and I have recommended this to all my female friends.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
