Anyone have a review of The Wedding Holiday?

Mrs. Roses are Red

I don't think the issue here is not giving The Wedding Holiday respect in anyway.  I believe what the common denominator here in all of our posts is a lack of communication on the Wedding Holiday's behalf; we all understand that the wedding holiday is simply a travel agency and they must get in contact with the tour operators, but when brides are continually not 'kept in the loop' with vital information needed to continue with their planning process then that is when frustrations begin to arise.  When phone calls and e-mails are not being answered week after week that to me is very poor service and red flags start to go off in my head.  With regards to the staff changeover, of course we all understand that people come and go from their jobs, and I didn't mind giving the new staff at the wedding holiday over a month to get properly settled into their role in the company (I always put myself in other peoples shoes to be fair), but again a few red flags went off when I heard that they had lost all of their staff except for one.  That to me tells me that something is/was going on behind the scenes that we don't know about, and it does raise some concerns.

I personally don't think that blog pages are mostly negative like you had pointed out; when I have received good service I have no problems blogging about it to let other brides know of that service or company so that they are able to utilize it as well.  I see that this was your first post to the website, so I think that in order to make such a bold statement as you did, you should really take the time to check out a few other threads to see that were not all bad/angry brides complaining about companies.

I respect your opinion and am very glad that you did not fall victim of the wedding holiday, and I think that it's great that you let other brides know that you personally received good service from this company, so that they are able to make their own judgments for themselves.  But all I ask is that you do not undermind all of us other brides who have unfortunately have fallen victim to extremely poor service and have spoken up about it to warn others out there to think twice and really look into the company you are about to plan the most important day of your life with.

I have to agree with "Digado" I too have given positive review on resorts, and services that I obtain. It's not always negative. As for "Roses are Red" I too am very happy for you that you had a positive experience with these people. However you are one of the exceptions. I guess they also have to get something right at some point... or they wouldn't be in business. They are what we call in the business industry a "fly by night operation" They're here one minute, and gone the next. I would have to say there is one positive outcome and lesson to be learned from this experience....

Don't depend on someone else for your wedding day. No matter how much money you spend. Just have your partners hand and yours personally in everything that is decided on. Make the decision together. Trust me it's a lot more work, Yes..... but at least you'll be happy that all your hard work will pay off in the end with no surprises. For you will have everything according to the way the two of you like it. Not a wedding planner and according to their terms and conditions.

Hope this helps. and

Good luck with your plans.

If I had to bet I'd say that "Roses are Red" probably is employed by the Wedding Holiday, perhaps Loraine herself.  Bottom line is that they both are idiots.  I'm 100% sure that I would have been able to achieve the same level of service or assistance without the Wedding Holiday because I did in fact have to plan my wedding ON MY OWN!  They were only the middle man who only made it more difficult to get results.  I eventually contacted Karisma directly and accomplished the entire detail sheet on my own since the Wedding Holiday's wedding coordinator never contacted me after I provided the deposits.  So much for first class wedding planning services!

Also, they will confirm you in one room type then pay the resort for a lower room type and use their free upgrades to get you the room you booked while pocketing the difference. This seems dishonest to me as I paid for an upgraded room type but that room was not available when I arrived at the hotel.  Again, creating issues that we had to deal with one our honeymoon.

I disputed the extra charges on my credit card and just received a $500 credit, so please if you were unfortunate enough to have already booked your wedding with this company please keep good records of all your communications.  I also have a pending complaint with the Better Business Bureau to warn others about this company. BEWARE OF THE WEDDING HOLIDAY!!!

URGENT!!!! THERE IS A POTENTIAL THAT THE WEDDING HOLIDAY IS GOING TO SHUTDOWN OR SELL THE BUSINESS. THIS COULD PUT ANY CURRENT BOOKING'S AT RISK. SUGGEST TO ANYONE WHO HAS A PENDING RESERVATION WITH THIS TRAVEL AGENCY TO CONTACT THEM OR THE TOUR OPERATOR OR TICO TO REVIEW THE STATUS OF YOUR RESERVATION AND TO ENSURE THAT YOUR GROUP BOOKING REMAINS INTACT!! SORRY FOR THE BAD NEWS HOWEVER I AM A BRIDE WHO'S RESERVATION MAY BE AT RISK AND FELT IT ONLY FAIR TO NOTIFY ANYONE ELSE WHO MAY BE IN THE SAME SITUATION.

I drove by their office today since I live in the area. The space is leased out and their sign is gone. Looks like they have gone out of business. I hope any brides who used them will be able to get everything sorted out.

I did talk to Lorraine (owner) back in August when I was trying to find a travel agent. She was lovely to talk to and very knowledgable. However, I was never able to get a hold of her after that one conversation even after leaving several messages for her and calling several times. So glad I gave up on her after her non-responsiveness!!

I too had the worst experience. I wish i would have read all this before i booked with them. I got married this past October 2011, and the resort was wonderful, but the wedding Holiday was terrible. My guests would call and no one would call them back, which then lead to all my guests calling me and complaining. JUST WHAT A BRIDE NEEDS! next  they wouldn't email us back for weeks at a time, got birth dates wrong on the tickets and now my marriage certificate is lost! YES LOST! We also has 80 ppl attend our wedding in Mexico, and the wedding Holiday told us that they could not guarantee a room upgrade and that we would have to pay for to to ensure we had the better room! what is that!! if I'm bringing 8- ppl to Mexico during hurricane season , they better make sure i have a room upgrade . I regret using them and would not recommend the wedding holiday to anyone!. I hope brides read these reviews before booking , because i wouldn't want anyone to go through the year of hell, when it was suppose to be hassle free!!.

Did i also mention, that with 80 ppl we did not get a discount on our flights or anything. I feel like someone from the wedding Holiday sure made out well with some kind of discount they kept for them self. !

I will update you on what they do about the lost marriage certificate! :(

I am currently dealing with the Wedding Holiday. I am glad i read these reviews and im so sorry to hear about your experience. I have read the horrible reviews about this company and am starting to second guess booking with them. I am afraid of going through what all of you have. Which resort did you get married at?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
