Flight Dilemma

Recommended Posts

I need some help in about deciding when to book my flight to Montego Bay from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada for my wedding in April of this year. I recently saw a seat sale for about $550 (taxes in). Now I am wondering if this is as good as it will get and I missed it. doh.gif

There are US flights that are at this price right now as well, but not sure if I should grab it since of all the new security measures put in place (i.e. no carry ons). I was hoping to bring my wedding dress on board the plane.

If anyone has any thoughts or advice, I would appreciate it.

Are you booking flights only or a full all inclusive package? I think from Canada it's more economical to book a package rate than a flight/hotel separately.

I got an early booking rate on my AI package of about $240 off the regular price and I haven't seen that deal again, but I suppose there's always the possibility of last minute options.

I am wondering the same thing as amygirl1169. Are you booking the hotel and flights separate. We went through a travel agent and booked our resort and flights as a package really early and got our week for an excellent price, about $2000 cheaper because the resort just went through reno's to upgrade and it was so early.

Good luck.

hey. my mom just left for jamaica in december from Ottawa as well. She got a fare for almost the same price. Ottawa-Toronto-MBJ (air canada).

Word of advice: don't fly through the states when going to jamaica. too much of a hassle. 2 custom checks and more hassle. I fly from Toronto ( i live here).

i just checked Westjet:$570 including tax april 13-22 , Air canada: $600+, US airways (throught Philadelphia, USA): $531 after tax.

*flight deals: sign up for westjet's deals... they email me all the time when there's deals. there was a sale from Ottawa to MBJ a few weeks ago for $406 after tax.... i emailed all my friends and family when i saw that! LOL.

* most flight deals come out on wednesdays.. keep your eyes open.

*keep in mind, Easter falls early April.. so flights might be more pricy. what are your exact dates?

Good luck.

Thanks for all the responses! I am booking the accommodations and air fare separately. I already put down a deposit for Sandals Dunn's River (to secure the wedding date) and the 2nd week we are spending in Sandals Whitehouse.

I guess I will just continue to keep an eye out for airfare deals for Canadian flights! At this point, I think it may be too much trouble to switch the dates since (1) fiance already got his wedding band inscribed with the wedding date (this probably was not the greatest idea since things can come up that is not within our control such as an epidemic!) (2) my travel agent was saying how the prices have gone up for the rooms so switching any dates may increase the prices

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
