Hello Everyone

My Name is Monica and I am newly engaged. I am considering St. Thomas as the location our wedding. Would any of you be able to make recommendations on Resorts? I am looking at about 50 guests.

Thx

Welcome Monica and tntnum! I'm getting married in St. Thomas in April, but I unfortunately cannot recommend any advice on resorts. I will have about 40 guests, but we are staying in villas (and have the reception at our villa). We do have some guests staying at both the Marriott and Bolongo Bay though. Both are very nice, but depends on what type of formality you are looking for (and price). I know a lot of brides on here have recommended the Marriott - it is gorgeous, but it will be more expensive. Bolongo Bay will be more affordable for guests (and offers an all-inclusive option if they want that), but is family-owned without all the bells and whistles of the Marriott (but still pretty). Good luck!

Congratulations Monica on your engagement and decision to have a destination wedding in beautiful St. Thomas!!! Consider Bolongo Bay, but also consider the BVI! Tortolla is incredible too as is Virgin Gorda. Whereever you decide will be wonderful because you will be surrounded by people who love you and who you love!! Congrats again Monica!!

Congrats!! My fiance and I were in St. Thomas last year, had we known just how beautiful it was we definately would have choosen to do our wedding there!! We stayed at the Marriot frenchmens cove! I was really great, we rented a car and toured the island and it is amazing!! With that many guests an all-inclusive resort would be my recommendation! My favorite place BY FAR is St. John. The island is FABULOUS and the Westin is an all-inclusive and just beautiful, they also have many places to get married at that are not a resort!! Good Luck with your planning!!

Yanks,

I'm doing villas, so I cannot recommend resorts. I think it's an individual choice about how you envision the week and your wedding. I want to spend time with everyone (but not be right next door or in constant access of my future in-laws). Just something to think about!

There are several websites that specialize in renting villas in St. Thomas. One is vrbo.com and mclaughlin anderson (I think) is the name of a management company/website that my parents booked their villa through. I'm staying in Sea Star which is 5 bed/5 bath on the beach with a pool. Here is a link Sea Star - Caribbean Vacation Packages including caribbean vacation rentals, parties and more.

The villa owners for Sea Star have been amazing to work with and I highly recommend them. I'm also having my reception there. The owners hosted their daughter's wedding/reception there for 200 people! Mine is only 35 :) There's also a villa RIGHT next door if you want more guests to stay closer. It's called Casa B for short.

PM me if you have any questions!

Happy planning!
Toni

Ladies,

I live and was married on St. Thomas last May. The resorts are nice but they honestly don't have the best beaches and can be overpriced. I love St. Peter Mountain GreatHouse for a reception. As far as resorts go, I like Caneel Bay or the Westin on St. John. The Wyndham Sugar Bay is nice too. The photographer you pick should be able to show you a complete wedding from each and every venue you are considering to help you in your selection.

Hope this helps.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
