ROR - Advice on Order of wedding events - Please

Recommended Posts

I am behind the eight ball but I get married March 6th at ROR at 4pm. I am having a semi-private reception and was thinking about the poolside reception afterwards with a dj. But I thought this would make for a long evening. About how long is the restaurant reception?

Or I was thinking about a coktail hour in between with a dj before.

I just want to be considerate of the guest time. I know it is about me but they have spent money for a vacation as well. Most are leaving the next day. Any thoughts?

They've come for your wedding so make the most of it! you don't want to have too little and then they miss out on all the typical fun wedding stuff! our friend didn't have a dinner or a dance and was a little disappointing not to get to party with them and have a little party. they are there for yoru wedding!

That's great advice. I was feeling the same as loveisintheair; worried that maybe I shouldn't have a dance/reception in the evening because our guests might be tired or want to do other things but one of my BMs gave me this same advice that you have just provided, Kerrij, and it helped me realize that the guests who are there on the wedding day obviously care a lot about the bride & groom and they will support the married couple through the whole day and look forward to celebrating with them. I feel much better now about planning my reception where I will have my first dance with my new husband.

We sat down for dinner at 6:30 at the plantation (they had moved us due to the number of weddings that day) and were not finished until 9:30 or 10. I was glad I didn't have anything planned as we just went to the bar and had some drinks for an hour and then went to the disco.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
