Hi, Yup I thought about it, but this march break is a little too soon and next march break seems sooo far away. I will be moving it to then if I can't get a good price.

I hear you. I want to get married in the spring, but next spring is too close (plus there is already another wedding in my FI's family circle), so we are getting married spring 2011. It's so far!!!

Next spring will give you time to plan without the stress of rushing. And pricing for next spring will come out around June so you should use this time to find a TA that you like and then she can work with the resort to lock in the best rates as soon as the resorts release their 2011 pricing. The time will still fly by - I promise! Have fun planning!!!! It will take you over a year to find all the cool ideas on BDW that you want to use anyway, LOL!

I was wondering the same thing... I thought DR was a little cheaper then other places until I saw how the "all inclusive" resorts are charging extra for dinner and stuff. I am leaning towards Grand Palladium because of 4 hotels in 1 choice. I am not sure if a lot of people will even come. I do seem to have a hard time getting any prices for Grand Palladium resorts though. I guess they book up fast? Or maybe I need to get a travel agent lol

Glad to see I'm not the only confused bride about all the DR prices! I did notice that some packages are cheaper into Puerto Plata, they have some nice hotels there too (its hte north side of the island). I haven't been able to figure out which resort offers the greatest value for us and our guests bc each are so different. I like Majestic Colonial/Elegance bc they seem to have reasonable rates but the wedding packages sure add up quick, esp if you want a private reception like I do. Excellence seems nice too, but I can't find a ton of info about their wedding packages. When I looked at prices for Moon Palace they were much more than $900 for 4 nts (and I'm coming from the East Coast too) so you got a great quote!

I did notice though on some travel sites that there might only be 100-200 dollar difference between a 4 nt and 7 nt stay, which I thought was very interesting. I think I'm going to offer both choices to my guests since they might think they are getting a better value on the week long vaca.

Anyway, thanks for all the info and keep up the advice, its super helpful!!!!

The beaches aren't the greatest in Puerto Plata, but they do have nice resorts and they're cheaper than Punta Cana. Most people hang out at the resort anyway, so I wouldn't let the beach thing sway your opinion. If budget is a big consideration for you, PP might be your better choice.

The terrace outside the Japanese restaurant might be large enough to have a wedding of that size, but I would confirm with the WC first. It is nice, but can be very windy, depending on the time of year.

I don't think it's too much to ask!  Guests don't have to stay more than a couple of days.  Also, you're inviting them, not demanding they go. My FH and I have huge families and we don't have the money to have a wedding where everyone can come.  That's why we are so excited about the DW! It'll definately be smaller and more accomodating to our small pockets.  We are getting married at Majestic Elegance on June 29, 2011.  The package is $1,750 which seems high but it has a lot of extra's included that other resorts tack on later and charge for so this is the straight up price.  Their symbolic package is $1,250.  All in all with our flights, staying 8 days, and the wedding package it's around $4,300.  This is a huge savings for us b/c we planned on spending that much just on a honeymoon!  Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
