HI everyone! Newbie from Washington here.

I'm getting married in January 2011. I've been researching Puerto Vallarta resorts for about 3 months now, and think that I like Vallarta Palace the best.

I've noticed that I can't find a lot of brides on here that have been or are getting married there. Is there something I should know? Is it a cost issue? The resort has really good reviews, and the wedding package seems to be comprehensive. I'd love to find out your reasons for choosing the resort that you chose.

And if there are any Vallarta Palace brides out there, please give me your thoughts!

Thanks everyone. Have a great Wednesday!

I think it's mostly because it's such a new resort.

Have you checked out the RIU PV thread in the PV section? I believe we have at least one former bride from the Palace. It looks gorgeous though!

I had the opportunity to stay at Vallarta Palace two years ago and found the resort to be excellent! We were there in the summertime so it was particularly hot but really enjoyable! The hotel has an on-site coordinator but I did recently hear that they are opening their doors to outside coordinators as well, so that may be something to ask about if you aren't completely satisfied with the service through the hotel! Best wishes!

Tye, I see your getting married at Las Caletas in May of 2011. That's great! I'm also getting married there in June of 2011. Have you heard any further regarding group rates for The Vallarta Palace?

Thanks!

Hi there...I actually got engaged at Vallarta Palace in 2007:) It is absolutely beautiful!

We are going back to PV for our wedding, but are actually staying at Dreams and getting married at a beach house south of PV.

For us, there were three reasons we didn't pick Vallarta Palace for us and our guests to stay at. One was price (Dreams PV was more affordable for our guests). The second was distance. It is about a 35-40 min drive north of the PV airport and our ceremony will be 1 hour south of PV, so it would be about 90 min to get our guests to the ceremony. The third was that the beach at Dreams is more private and sheltered in a cove, not as many people or vendors on the beach as there were at Vallarta Palace.

It is absolutely gorgeous, though. We had no complaints, food was decent, service was AMAZING!. Good luck making your decision. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk more:)

Andi - Thank you for all of your helpful tips for Vallarta Palace.  Besides the Triton Pool Terrace where you had your welcome dinner, do you know of options for reception locations etc?  We'll have over the 25 people so we can't do a sit down dinner (and that's okay with us).  I don't have a WC yet - and won't for another month!  Our date is Feb '11.

Also, did you upgrade on your transportation from the airport to the resort?

Thanks again for all of your GREAT tips!

Kara

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
