Hello, Help please Riu Palace Riviera Maya

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

My name is Nicola and Im new to this forum it was recommended to me from someone on Tripadvisor after i posted a new thread. So here goes. This was my post and i was just wondering if anyone could possibly help me out with a few things?

Hi

We have been looking for a while now at getting married abroad, First off we started with Mexico, then we wanted Jamaica, then we moved on to Aruba and low and behold were back at Mexico......

So confusing but we really want to get it right.

We have been looking at Mexico and both really really like the Riu Palace Riviera Maya, I think this one may just be the one as we both feel the same with this one on all aspects rather just agreeing on a few things we like etc. Anyway I just have a few questions.

1. Has anyone (reading this) been married here or been to a wedding here?

2. I have read we would need to take blood tests so

a) How much is this?

B) Where do you get this done?

c) Do you have to arrange all this or do the wedding team help?

3. Can you get married on the beach aswell as the gazebo on the grounds?

4. Is the wedding legal when you get back to the U.K?

5. Has anyone exerienced any hidden costs?

6. How much is the photographer to book?

7. How much is the Hairdresser etc?

I know most of these questions can be answered by travel agents but I would love to hear of 1st hand experience please, These forums have been so so helpful with past questions about weddings etc and even given me info travel agents didnt know so we really are greatful for any answers given.

Finally can you offer any advise? Or can you maybe just let me know anything which you may find useful?

Thank You So So Much

Nic

nic,

i know you have found us now and im guessing the other questions are answered but just in case.

legal - if you have a leagal wedding yes it is legal in uk but you wont get your original wedding certificate for 6-8mths but you will be given i copy.

blood test-this will be included in the wedding package price and you got to the sister hotel up the road (a very short walk) for them.the wc will arrange an appointment for you.nothing for you to worry about.

i think we have answered the others on the thread.i bet you cant believe you came across this forum now lol.

Shelk,

Thank you for your reply :-)

Thats a relief about it being legal, i was starting to worry about that part!!! And for the blood test i am glad about that as we didnt really know what to expect as the travel agent cant realy tell us muchhuh.gif?? a short walk is fine, i was thinking we were going to have to find a hospital etc and was a bit worried. Do you know how long it takes for the results as it ust be quick?

Also if you dont mind me asking as im only 27 pages into the thread now and have found lots of useful info but just 4 questions i have if thats ok, i will probably come across them in the thread at some point but im impatient!!! haha,

1.) Are photos and photogropher included in your wedding package? if not do you know how much it is for this? there is no mention of photos being in the wedding package on the riu site nor in information our tour operator gave. sad.gif

2.) How much is the hairdresser/ Make up or is that included in package?

3.) Can you get married on the beach or is it just held in the gazebo?

4.) Out of intrest Who did you book it through?

And yes this site is fab :-)

Thanks

Nic x

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
