Riu Bachata Wedding

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm getting married at the Riu Bachata in Puerto Plata, DR on March 16th/10.

I'm hoping some can answer some questions and provide some help.

Everything is booked and what not. We have approx 45 people going and I have some questions regarding supper and after supper.

First of all, I think I was told that with this large of a group, we'd have a private dinner. I guess my question is what about after supper? Is there anywhere that you can book for a reception/dance? I guess I'd rather not have my wedding guests leave after supper and disappear to another location because we have nowhere to go. Is it possible to book the restaurant for the evening? How late do the staff work? Most of the guests are late nighters, as in 3-4am.

What have people done in the past? Suggestions?

We are also having a lot of trouble trying to reach someone at the resort. We've tried each and every email address available for wedding coordinators without any luck. We haven't been able to get a response at all.

Another question is in regards to our documents that we have had translated. One site suggests that we must mail this before we arrive, and another states it has to be brought with us? Can anyone verify this info for us? I find it hard to believe that we'd have to email them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hey..My wedding is march 13th at the Bachata...Here is what I know and hopefully can help with...

I have booked a private dance for after dinner...it is $800.00...($200.00 of it has to be in cash) and it includes a portable bar, bartender, dj and dance floor. I am unsure of where it is located but that is what I know for now...

I purchased the royal package so we are doing the semi-private dinner and I as well have 46 people.

I am super surpised about not getting a hold of anyone at the resort as they have been extreamly helpful to me and responding to my emails with in 48 hours. The email that I am using is.... wedding.pop@riu.com

As for the documents pm me your email and I can send you all the informatoin I have on this...

Hope this helps....let me know how your making out.

Cheers

Marcie

Hi! I just got married at the RIU Bachata a few days ago so I can definitely answer some questions....we had a group of 54 so we rented the pool bar from 8pm-12am right after the reception dinner...it cost 400 dollars and had to be in cash. We had a DJ and bartenders, it was a blast! We just booked it when we had a meeting with the wedding coordinator at the resort. Also we had to fax our translated documents a month before the wedding as well as bring copies when we got to the resort. Message me with any more questions!

Congratulations on your wedding! I am about to book the Riu Bachata for my wedding in November. I've been reading reviews and am extremely nervous about it, after reading a lot of negative reviews of the Bachata. Any feedback and reviews you could give me about your personal experiences would be really appreciated!!

Congratulations on your upcoming (very soon) wedding! I am also getting married at RIU Bachata in December, and am a little nervous about the negative reviews. The resort has been really great over the last year about staying in touch and helping through every detail. We have a smaller group going (25 people) as our date is 2 days past Christmas... but for the most part everything has gone smoothly.

Please let us know how it goes for you! We just e-mailed the resort about the details for the dance reception as we have everything else sorted. I didn't realize it was something extra we needed to book. We are going to request the pool area as well for our dance reception.

Anyone have any good feedback after their wedding at RIU Bachata?? Getting nervous!

Best of luck on your NOV wedding!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
