I want both my dad & stepdad to walk me down the aisle - help!

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies!

So as you can see by the title of this thread, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to have both my Dad and Stepdad walk me down the aisle.

Stepdad basically raised me, but my Dad has always been a big part of my life and I want to include them both.

I toyed with the option of having neither, but it seems wrong!

Should they both walk me, one on each side?

I really don't know how to tell my Dad about this either, I'm sure he assumes he'll be walking me....

Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!!!

I have a similar dilemna... only not really :-) My mom has ALWAYS been there for me and I've always wanted her to walk me down the aisle... but I feel bad leaving my dad and step-dad out.

Maybe you could have one walk you to the aisle... and the other walk you down the aisle? Not sure how your set up is but I've seen something like this done before. I've also seen both parents walk the bride down the aisle... so I suppose you could have both dad's walk you down!

hmmm I don't think I was very helpful :-) But let us know what you decide to do!

I think it's really nice that you want both to be a part of your day, and your dad should respect that your stepdad raised you, and that he should be included as well. If you tell them both how much you would love to have them on either side of them and how honored you would be to have them both walk you down, neither one of them should be upset.

Maybe you could have your dad walk you in and your step dad walk you down the aisle. I'm sure if your dad knows you are close to your stepdad that he would understand you wanting both of them be a part.

You could also have one of them do a special reading or something to include them?

Good luck!! At the end of the day don't stress too much, it's just a minute of your day and everyone will be really happy for you!

I too had the same problem at first because I am close with my step dad and dad, and I am going to have my dad walk me down the first part of the aisle and my step dad meet us half way and then they will both continue to walk me down together , this kinda symbolized when my step dad actually came into my life.

I am having the same problem. Well, kind of. My step dad has always been there.. but my dad - not really. I want my step dad to walk me down the aisle but I know that I would also feel kind of awkward having my dad just sitting there watching. To be honest I dont know that my dad would really care all that much.. but I would still feel pretty weird about it..

I had both my dad and step dad walk me down the isle. I was worried at first about how to tell my dad and how he would react. However I didnt make a big deal about it. I just announced that both would be walking me down the isle, as if there we no other options. I also did two father daughter dances.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
