ROR 12.07 review long pics attached

I would first like to thank everyone on this website who helped me when I was trying to plan our wedding. Hopefully this will help some people out there too.

Resort: We booked a jacuzzi suite to stay in, however once we got there and checked in we had been put into a regular suite. This was no big deal after getting to our room for the night we realized that the air conditioner was not working and it wasn't because windows or doors were open. We had a difficult time trying to get someone to come look see what the problem was. Approximately an hour after we originally called someone arrived "diagnosed" that yes our air conditioner was not working and left saying they were going to get a ladder. After another hour (now midnight) nobody had came up. The front desk told us over the phone that we would just have to wait it out till the next morning but after going down to the front desk we were able to get a new room. We did have to be down graded again to a jr suite, but that was fine. This room was nice and because the air conditioner was working the room did not smell as bad as the first did. The front desk manager did send his apologizes the next day along with a fruit basket and campaign. Other than this issue there were no other problems we had with the resort it was all very clean and they were generally nice.

Food: The food was decent. While we were they we ate at all of the restaurants available, including the jerk hut. This is located on the beach in front of the plantation, it is not listed on the food guide they will give you when you check in . The thing that I didn't like was that you had to get up early in the morning (7:30) to wait in line for reservations for dinner, if you didn't want to eat at the buffet. I would also be aware that the drinks are not made very strong but that can be expected with unlimited alcohol.

Excursions: While we were there we did the Dunn's River falls this was around 15$ per person and you need tennis shoes, crocs, or water shoes to go. It was fun but I would not recommend it for anyone that is older or under 12 or so. They say that any age can go but it pretty difficult and there are spots that you can slip and fall. Despite this it was my favorite one. We also did the Mistic Mountian to just do that it is 42$ (ski lift) to include zipline 120$ (I believe) and to add to do the bob sled it was 60 something. This was nice and had good views however, it is a little over priced to just do the ski lift but those that included the zip lining said it was well worth it. We did drive through the furn gully which is basically just a road you drive through and did some "downtown" shopping. The shops were all pretty much the same, i.e jewelry stores and souvenir places. Margaritaville is across the street and had some slightly better shops, along with the restaurateur and seemed to be the better of the two places

Wedding: I had a horrible time getting a hold of the coordinators before I left which I found very frustrating. Once I got there I tracked them down, I had Niki who was very nice and everything seemed to work out. We chose the beach gazebo. I was a little disappointed on how close it was to the actual hotel and the other guest staying, but I guess that is expected with a resort wedding. I have attached pictures that can show the proximity. We had ordered the white cake with chocolate filling, but got back forest instead which was good. I ordered my flowers through Tia Flora myself which ended up being cheaper than if I would have gone though RIU. I had found a picture and sent it to them they were able to make it exactly they way it looked, and turned out perfect. My reception was at Mamee Bay (pic included) and every thing turned out nice there they were able to set up a table for our cake, which was nice since I had eaten there before the wedding and they did not do this for the other wedding party. Overall everything turned out wonderful and was a breeze!

I think I covered everything!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
