How do I find a travel agent?

Recommended Posts

I don't know where to begin and I would like to find someone who has had experience in booking destination weddings before. Especially since they will have to coordinate people coming from all over the country to Mexico.

Also, what comes first? booking a date with a resort, or working with a travel agent to figure out costs etc?

Thanks,

Jenna

I would also highly suggest using a BDW TA. You definitelly want to make sure that the TA that you use has a knowledge of DW's in general and knows the process that goes along with it & is knowledgeable about the resorts that you can choose in Mexico.

Just today I read a review from a bride who did not like her experience with her TA & that filtered down to her guests who told her that she should never use that TA again!

I would say that if you already have a resort in mind & you don't have to make a deposit to book the date, I'd book the date just b/c at some resorts dates get booked pretty quickly & you wouldn't want your ideal date to not be available. Then I'd work with the TA in terms of rates. If the rates are too high & won't work for you & your guests, you can always cancel that date & look elsewhere. At least the TA can recommend resorts to you based on you & your guests needs.

definitely get a TA that does destination weddings, it makes a huge difference! one that is familiar with the area and/or resort is a plus as well.

if you want to use a TA from this forum (they all rock!) there is a handy banner at teh top of your screen you can click on to get you started!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
