Congratulations and thanks for posting a review!

I'm so glad you were happy with your choice to use the free package and use the regular restaurant menu. I keep encouraging people to do this (for those who are looking at ways to save money) because people are often complaining about the 65$ cost for more than 20 people. I'm happy that you chose this option and saved some money and were happy with your experience. Thanks for posting the prices you paid, I know other brides who are comparing the different options will appreciate getting a clear picture of what it cost.

There was a hot tub when I was there (although that was almost 2 years ago!) although it closed in the evening with the other pools. That being said, myself, my sister and SIL went in at like 1am the night of my "bachelorette" party and nobody said anything even though the security guard and other resort employees walked by and saw us in it. I was happy they had one because a lot of resorts have a "whirlpool" which is actually cold water rather than a hot tub.

Thanks everyone! to answer a few of the questions -

Our one tour that we did (Coba Mayan adventure) we booked through the apple vacations or amstar guides that are the resort. The others we did on our own - For chichen itza we rented a van and about 15 of us went there together on our own without paying for a formaltour. The guided tour would have been $100 each, and we rented a van to take us there (2 hours away) for the day for $300, paid about $5 each to get in, and then as a group rented a tour guide there for $60. For tulum ruins we just took a taxi there. We had a great time.

We didn't tip the minister, but tipped the wedding coordinator, photographer and servers.

We didn't pay for a video, but had a family member who was videotaping it for us.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I'm happy to help since I learned so much from this site!

Great review I am rethinking going with a package. We originally wanted the ultimate package then decided to go with the the one before that dont know what its called. But I am seriously rethinking this now. Especially wanting to bring in our own photographer.

Congratulations on your marriage

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
