Our boarding pass STD - Finally done! (pics + links)

Recommended Posts

I can't even remember when I started to work on our STD, but it was months ago! This project dragged on forever based on quite a few different things (such as delays in getting our booking info from the resort, my mad skills at procrastination, my OCD with details, issues with the printer...). Anyhow, I wanted the STD to be done a long time ago, and when it became clear that this was not going to happen then at least I wanted to have them done by the end of the year. They were mailed on the 31st of December, so we made it just in time!

I designed the tickets based on the boarding pass template by Aylee (www.ayleebits.com). I wanted a very sleek, modern and minimalist design, and I think that we were able to achieve that. The sleeve was designed from scratch by myself. The labels were modified from Martha Stewart's template (www.marthastewartweddings.com). Due to an issue with Kinko's, they could not cut the project so I had to do it all by hand. I used a rotary cutter and score as well as a corner punch. The corner punch was not the same size as the template, so I used it where I could to save time and cut the rest by hand with scissors. I also didn't like the stamps currently available at the post office, so I tried to vary it up best that I could. Otherwise, it was either a stamp of the Queen or of the 2010 Olympic mascots!

Overall I'm pretty happy with the end result, but I find that it wasn't really worth all of the work and the expense in the end. I would have cost just as much to pay a designer to do it all, so had I had to do it all over again, I'd do things differently! I will still most likely be designing the invitations, menus, etc myself, so we'll see if I really learned from my mistakes in the end!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
