Excuses, excuses, excuses !!

Are any of you finding that some of your invitees are coming up with any/all excuses to not attend your DW?

Why can't people simply say "We just can't afford to attend sad.gif " ? ?

I know a dw is not for everyone but I could really appreciate a little honesty .

Oh yes, I've heard it all from "I can't afford it" to "I'm boycotting the Mexican tourism industry" (seriously, I wish I was joking on that one!). We had a few surprises with our group. People we thought for sure would be there can't make it and others are coming that we never thought would! Bottom line, the people that do come will make your wedding amazing and those that don't might send you a really nice gift. :)

Yep, I think that's a pretty common theme for DW brides!

We should start a thread with the most ridiculous excuses people have given not to attend their wedding.

For the most part the only person that's been forthright with telling me why they aren't coming has been my uncle and he pretty much just said 'Hell no, I'm not going down there!' But meanwhile his wife said forget you, I'm going!

Otherwise, my friends that (surprisingly) I don't think will be coming basically just avoided me like the plague when I was trying to get rsvp's for the initial booking. It was really weird... so many people had so much input and seemed like they were for sure coming but when it came to putting down a deposit they were no where to be found!

Oh well, c'est la vie! We still have about 35 people coming, so it just makes things less expensive for us!

Ditto!!! Bottom line was we gave everyone much advanced notice and we couldn't make guests come to our wedding if they didn't want to. Party was a blast with HAPPY & EXCITED GUESTS!!!thewave.gif

Yeah.... I hear you ladies,

I think my best excuse was from FI stepfather... He said he wasn't going because he doesn't believe we're taking marriage seriously because we're getting married on a beach and not in the Catholic Church. At least he is honest and told us from day one... It's the people that can not be honest that drives me nuts.

The Plague lol - when you think about it , that's exactly what it feels like. In the weeks and months leading up to our announcement, friends/family were asking all the time - when/where. Once we sent our invites out - NO ONE brings anything up anymore.

At Christmas dinner (his side) , not one family member brought up the wedding, other than to comment on the awesomeness of the invites.
Friends that I thought would come, have RSVP'd with better things to do and haven't even called to congratulate us !!! How bizarre !!!

Trying to not let it all get me down, but you can't help but to be disappointed just a little bit.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
