Legally, we are getting married at the San Francisco court house, and we would like to be married symbolically by a family member...can we do this in Cabo? We are currently thinking about Melia Cabo Real.

We are doing the same, one of our best friends will be conducting the ceremony in Cabo. My understanding is that because the wedding isn't legal, anyone can stand up and say a few words.

 

We aren't even asking our friend to get the certification online.

I also did a symbolic ceremony in Cabo, I did use an experienced officiant. Rev Marco Arechiga. He was absolutely fabulous and nearly ever guest commented that it was the best wedding ceremoney that they had ever been to.

 

Also I recommend searching the cabo forum as there are many discussions on officiants, I used the search featrue at the top menu bar and typed in cabo officiant and the following came up:

We're doing the same! Getting married at the courthouse in Portland the day before we leave for Cabo and a dear friend is going to do the ceremony for us in Cabo. No certificate needed since the legal ceremony is already done!

*Heather* form the forum got married at Dreams Cabo, and I believe her brother officiated the ceremony. Double check with her to be sure, and I am sure she can give you more details!

My wedding was also symbolic and I used Marco Arechiga because I need it to get it done in both Spanish and English (my family doesn't speak any English, Brian's any Spanish) and he did great. Funny story, I was freaking out when I was walking down the aisle, almost pass out, but he save me from a nervous breakdown with a small joke at the beginning of the ceremony, I love it! People still talk of how beautiful the ceremony was. Totally recommended.

We are doing that too. We are getting married at the Courthouse in Santa Barbara CA, and having my Aunt (my favorite person in the world) Marry us. We both thought it would mean so much more to have someone we loved and trusted officiating the ceremony.

I used Marco, as well, and can't say enough how wonderful he was. I requested him because of what I've read about him on this Forum. I also, have a friend that got certified online. But, to answer your question, you'll probably be better off by getting it confirmed with your WC.
