Cabo site visit, Nov 14-16th

Hi everyone, I think I'm going to do a site visit next month. Cain's Ma has a good chance on getting free airfare tickets (she's a corporate TA and gets two tickets a year and never used hers this year) She was also making some calls yesterday and got a killer rate on the Sheraton for two nights, (cheaper then staying at a resort in downtown) The only catch, she has to travel with me,, UGH and if anyone has heard all my stories about the trouble with her lately you can see why it's a bit stressful. BUT I'm going to have to bite me tongue and deal with it because I think it would really help me in finalizing our vendors.

SO, I'm now in a panic mode of trying to list out all the vendors I want to talk to in the very short amount of time we will be there.

Flower cart & other flower vendors (pricing on flowers and canopy rental)

Wedding coordinator (I may just smack her around a little in hopes she starts working for me) :-)

Melia San Lucas (check out site and secure our dinner reservations and wedding night suite)

Villa Del Palmar (check out hotel and grounds)

Pedregal Beach (view with WC on where the ceremony will be held)

I'm going to be checking the previous site visit thread in hopes to get a good list of questions for each of my vendors, but if anyone can think of some things for me I would appreciate it.

BTW do you think I should set up a meeting with Juan our photographer? We talked on the phone and over email, and he's great so I don't know if I need to meet him or should we just meet up to actually meet face to face before the wedding?

Even if you have to go with your not-so-favorite person in the world, I think you will be glad you made the trip. For me, the most valuable part was just getting familiar with the area (airport, roads, landscape) so that I can give my guests good advice about things.

Because Juan is so good, I'm not sure you need to meet with him. When your wedding gets closer you will want to give him a list of any pictures you want (combinations of people, etc), but if I were you I'd spend that extra hour laying by the pool sipping a margarita :)

PS Ill be in Cabo honeymooning away those days!!!!!!!!

Good tip on the stylist/spa Janet. I'll have to check that part out, it would relieve a TON of stress if I knew I liked what they did. Plus Cain's Ma speaks spanish so there will be no language barrier. I was hoping I would catch a wedding while I'm there but I know it was a stretch.. :-) WHy don't you postpone your wedding for a couple of days.. lol.. J/K

Yeah Tammy! You will feel so much better after you go!

I agree with what Janet said about Juan. He does such a great job is (at least for me so far) has been extremely reliable and timely. Is Cain going with you? You could always get some awesome engagement pics like someone else I know...lol

In addition to what the other girls have suggested, I would recommend checking out the entertainment vendors you will plan to use (if any). I know some girls are chartering sunset cruises and things like that- you could try it out and see if it's something you want to do.

I'm so excited for you, although it's just pretty much par for the course for you to have to bring the FMIL. Again- you are the world's most patient person!

I think we'll check out the resort spa and maybe a couple activites if we have the time. Cain's not coming with.. :-((( We need someone at home taking care of the 4 dogs.. Plus his Ma can only get two tickets and Cain said he doesn't want to meet with all the vendors in fear that he might make a bad decision.. lol.. Smart man.. lol..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
