Excursions for your guests

Recommended Posts

Hey girls,

I have a question...is anyone doing an excursion for your guests? If so, what did you decide to do. My FI and I keep disagreeing on what we should do. He wants to do a zipline tour in the jungle (Selvatica Canopy Tour http://www.selvatica.com.mx/) and I wanted to rent a catamaran for the rehearsal dinner. Kinda need a third (or more lol) opinion.

Thanks!

Mindy

I personally like the zipline activity, but I am adventurous and love to seize the opportunity to do a fun activity like this while on vacation. If I have a larger young and active crowd I would zipline, but if I had an older crowd (grandparents, elder aunts and uncles...) I would choose the catamaran trip.

Thanks girls!

I was thinking we do the catamaran for the rehersal dinner and then my FI take his groomsmen on the zipline while the girls go to the spa??

The zipline my FI researched for the Cancun area was Selvatica (Zip Lines and Canopy Tour Expedition in Cancun, Mexico, Selvatica The Adventure Kingdom - Exceeding your Expectations). They provide air conditioned transportation and a light lunch.

Sounds like fun, but I'm SO not adventurous! I'll let you know what we decide! msnwink.gif

I love the idea to do the rehearsal dinner on the catamaran. I think your guests will love that! Ziplining is lots of fun, but some people are scared of heights... and keep in mind the weight limits for ziplining. Several in our group throught of going after our wedding, but were over the weight limits and were disappointed. The catamaran would be really enjoyable for everyone I think, and it's a creative idea for a rehearsal dinner.

As for other ideas... we took our guests on a trip to Tulum ruins. They all had a really great time and got lots of postcard-worthy pictures. We were trying to do our engagement photos there, but you're not allowed to take professional cameras there and got booted, but our guests had fun lol :)

Later in the week, we went to the town of Akumal. You could do a group snorkeling tour there. Or there is a little restuarant called Buena Vida with swings at the bar and treehouses in the palm trees that's really lots of fun.

Have a great time!

What catamaran are people using in the Cancun area? We went on one earlier this year with a group on vacation but I can't remember the company. It was amazing, the staff was so fun and accommodating. It included all our drinks, snorkeling, and then lunch back on land. They extended our trip by a few hours for free because we were all having such a great time. It was less than $100/person. Please share what catamaran companies others have used or are planning t use and the prices. Thanks!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
