July 2010 Brides - How's the Planning Going?

Recommended Posts

Welcome A.J.- hope your planning is going well. I can't believe we're down to 2 months! Time has flown by and my to-do list keeps getting longer. I recently got a few things done and here's where I am now:

DONE

- Dress fitting

- Found my shoes (finally!!)

- FI's ring

- Ordered my OOT bags

- Ordered color swatched for FI's wedding shirt

- Ordered my sister/MOH's dress

STILL TO DO:

- Welcome letter/itinerary

- Buy OOT bag contents and organize

- Order FI's and BM's attire

- Order place cards

- Music playlists

- Book hair/makeup

- Finalize cocktail hour and reception menus and the cake

- Finalize decor

- Finalize entertainment

Hope everyone else's planning is going well!

ARGH!

11 people confirmed (including FI and myself). His parents, brother, sister in law, and niece are supposed to come but haven't even gotten their passports!!

Even if they come that's 15 adults and an 8 year old and 3 year old...

Should I cancel the DJ now or wait and see how many more RSVP?? Originally I didn't want to mess with music to suit the tastes of 30 people... and now 15 just seems more like a family get together instead of a "wedding reception."

We sent out save the dates back in Feb and have heard from most of those yay or nay about coming down, I honestly don't expect 10 more people to suddenly book hotel and air for our wedding within the next month.

I am sending out the invites next week with an RSVP of June 24 (wedding is July 29).

Honesty and criticism is readily accepted and welcomed!

I'm really surprised his parents didn't book yet! We only have 22 people booked including us and 2 of them booked yesterday. Our rsvp date is June 4th and I wish it was earlier. I have an aunt and uncle who are "in the process" of getting their passports but I'm not holding my breath. I think a few people are waiting for a better deal and will book soon. This seems to be the nature of a DW...

We have a lively bunch and they're looking forward to dancing so we're having a DJ. If you want maybe have an IPOD set up with music playing just to make things festive if you don't want the DJ. Either way it's your wedding and it should be amazing!!

Cathyandchin, I've had the same problem - originally had like 25 people who were "determined" to come, and now that has dwindled down to 8!!! We have 8 people booked so far and our RSVP is for May 15, so I don't think anyone else is going to book now. A few have been saying they are waiting for a "good deal", but what they don't realize is the prices only get higher closer to the date, not lower! This isn't sale season for us in Canada, especially because lots of families take holidays in the summer, the resorts are booking up and fast! Oh well, my originally $3000 wedding is now going to be free because I have fewer than 10 guests! Plus I can really spend quality time with those who have made the effort to come all the way to Mexico! :) It's going to be a great (small but nice because it's intimate) party!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
