Anyone having problems with Grand Palladium Jamaica?

Recommended Posts

Planning a wedding at GPJ in April 2010 and getting a bit frustrated with the lack of co-ordination at the resort. I seem to be having trouble getting any clear information as to what's going on. Just wondering if anyone else has been successful, or are you having similar issue?

I'm beginning to think that I might have better luck taking everything off the resort and restarting the planning process.....

Im sorry to hear that your having so much trouble. There are a lot of brides on here including myself that are getting married there. It is a frustrating process because they have been doing a lot of changes as far as their wedding coordinators go.

I dont have the email address on me right now, but I know there are several ladies on here who have it! I wish you luck. (Sorry I wasn't really helpful!)

I'm also getting married in April at Grand Palladium.
I got a call last friday from the Wedding Coordinator who was extremely helpful.
I called Her back Saturday Noon EST and she answered the phone when I called. I think it must be a good time to get her in the office
She wanted to get all of my documentation (Birth Certificates/Passports), as well as go over menus, flowers and photography and music. Here is her contact info:

Phylicia Haywood

Wedding Assistant

Phone: (876) 619-0000 (ext: 8251)

It was the first time I'd spoken to anyone live from the resort so I was really happy!

I hope this helps!

I was originally looking at the resort for my wedding, and I have to say that the lack of correspondence and delay in email responses is part of the reason that I chose another one. I'm sure it will work out for you, may just be a bit of a frustrating process.

I was frustrated by the same thing while planning my GPJ wedding earlier this year. It all worked out for us (and frankly, most of the details were settled during our meeting the day before the wedding, when the coordinator sat with us and wrote everything down on a sheet of paper...) but I agree with the suggestion to get someone on the phone for any questions you might have. Good luck & happy planning!

I got married at GP in Dec 09. I had been there in June to check the resort out. It is by far one of the best resorts I have been to for many reasons It is absoulutley beautiful the people are amazing the rooms nice and clean the wedding gazebo is gorgeous and the wedding coordinators are great...i too started to panic a bit as I wasnt getting answers asap and i phoned to confirm everything and they did have it all I think everyone can imagine the number of emails they get a day. Lori told me thousands...i was a bit at ease as I already had been to the resort and knew exactly what I wanted...as the time got closer they were answering my emails and confirming details...Nina sent me an exact detailed contract of everything i had asked for with prices for everything which is something new they are doing..it is fantastic as you know exactly your cost before going to the resort...the wedding was PERFECT. I was organized myself and had brought down detailed instructions of seating arrangements menus for guest ect so they wouldhave a hard copy to look at but they definatley did there job and did it well....i assure you that everything will be perfect...we went to the gazebo for wedding then to the beach which they set up beautifully for toasting, cocktails and h'orderves which were fantastic we hired the mento band which were set up and playing as we arrived then we were off to the blue lagoon for a private dinner using the italian menu the waiters were fabulous they were singing to my husband and I we had hired the steel drum band during dinner then we went up to the infinity bar which is such a beautiful spot...there was a great band there which seemed like they were there for us and our wedding group they kept callin us up and doin special things then off to the disco....iknow its your wedding but try and stay calm it was the best day of my life so much fun so well taken care of everything was on time and done without a mistake.

Thanks so much for this review! It's sure nice to hear how things really do work out in the end. I see more people are chosing to have the steel drum band play at the reception I was initially thinking of them for the ceremony but I am starting to have second thoughts and am now thinking about having them play at the reception. In hindsight would you do it the same way again?

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
