Rehearsal Dinners @ Dreams Los Cabos

You don't pay for the dinner itself, you're paying for the set up fee. If you are not eating at one of the restaurants then the staff needs to set up a special area for your guests, they also have to allocate servers, bartender etc... especially for you. Hence the $29pp fee, which I think is super reasonable compared to other resorts that charge a set up fee as well as a meal fee and drink fee etc... You will have to pay the pp fee when you organize your private wedding dinner as well. It really does take alot of extra work to set up a special seating area, as well as expense it might take to add extra staff for the night.

Ana, so you had no problem with the staff moving tables together for all your guests? We were thinking of doing a welcome event but decided against the extra costs and were planning on meeting at Rondevous for cocktails instead. Hmm...if we can pull off a dinner at El Patio, that's even better. I'm having Mariana set up a Wii Tournament for the evening event...hehe, how fun, right? :)

Even though we only had 15 people, we still opted for a private setup. I wanted it to feel more special for my guests that had travelled all that way. We did a private setup on the patio at Portofino, by the little river. We had 3 servers for our little group and the service was even better than normal. We had a set menu with three entree options, and all the other normal courses. The food was fabulous and the atmosphere was perfect.

Sarah, did you have to pay the $29/person fee that they have in place for the private parties? I feel strongly about providing for my guests and showing our appreciation for their long travels but I also do not want to pay an arm and a leg for something that everyone is already paying for. Hmmm, which option to dohuh.gif Also, did you enjoy the food? My FI and I ate there only once and weren't completely satisfied but that could have been just the plate we got.

We had 36 guests I think, maybe 35 I secretly forgot...but either way we just went to El Patio as a group and they set up a huge long table in the back under the little lights. It was really pretty and worked out really well. They kepts alot of the tables around us free so that other people wouldn't get disturbed. It was no problem what-so-ever, and our guests loved it. They had no idea it wasn't pre-planned. If you don't want to spend the extra money just do that. The staff made it really comfortable and nice and I didn't even realize it wasn't a private dinner :)

Thanks Ana! What time did you have the dinner? I worry because Justin and I had to wait for a table quite often last April. We also were eating later in the evening. I think I'm going to go with your suggestion. People will be happy to see one each other so the wait won't be bad if it comes down to it.

We did - we just didn't want to take the chance that it wouldn't be private enough, and for me, the peace of mind was worth the $400 I paid. Not everyone will feel that way, but I was happy in the end - with the setup, the atmosphere, the service and the food. Everyone enjoyed their entrees.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
