OH I need to post an update. I was going for the option with blue on the wall & first part of the ceiling & orange on the trey part. I was still really unsure about the orange & planned on painting to closets orange first to get a feel for if it would be too bright.

So after doing the blue, I loved how it contrasted with the bright white. Makes me feel like I'm in greece. Not the carribean, but still beach front.

Here is a peak into the orange closet. I did two in the bathroom

We ordered a dark wood bed, white duvet cover & blue sheets. I wanted orange, but I couldn't find orange sheets.

I'm thinking about doing dark bamboo roman shades for the windows. If I ever find the right orange curtains or fabric (without it being so expensive) I'll put up orange curtains. I found fabric I like, but it would be about $60 to get enough for the curtains.

The bed will not have a headboard. I want to make one eventually. Maybe something like this, but in white. It was once a room divider

Now we just need a beautiful vacation picture to print as a canvas wrap & the room is done. We should have the bed early next week. I can't wait to move in to the new master bedroom.

I think it feels very Carribean, and will look great with the other room details you've mentioned :)
Thanks! I need to take a better picture later once the bed is in the room. It's hard to see how nice the white looks when I posted a picture where it looks grey.

I want to take a sunset picture while we are in hawaii this summer. I'm hoping for bright orange sky with some blue. I can already tell I'll spend my vacations looking for things to photograph that match the house :o.

We are holding off on painting other rooms until we get things more settled to have an idea of what we want to do. I'm refinishing some furniture & making it bold, so that might be enough color for those rooms. It's so neutral right now. I think some rooms will be decorated once I have the right vacation picture for them. We have a 1/2 bath that I want to make really bold. I'm pretty sure I'll pick the colors for that room based on a vacation picture.

I'm about to go back to working on a dinning table set.
it's this

and I'm doing something like this

(from rooms 2 go)
I am using softer shades of my fiestaware colors.

We got the table off craigslist & it was pretty beat up with crayon marks & dings. The table should be awesome with some work. It's solid wood & really heavy. I have a lot of sanding left. I cant wait to start adding color.

PS. great photographer choice

I love your inspiration pics - I think that dining set is going to look so great when you are done with it! Please post pics :)

I actually just gave away a set pretty similar - round table with chairs (oak and white) - good quality but kinda beat up and chipped paint and whatnot. I knew it could be refinished and look great again, but would have never thought of your idea! Now I almost wish I kept it, lol. We are slowly renovating our place too that we bought last year (only an apartment, not a house - real estate is a li'l expensive in Vancouver!) and I just couldn't be bothered with all the sanding etc to fix it up... not to mention I don't really have the space for a project like that at the moment. I hate feeling like I am living in a construction zone all the time!

Good luck with all your projects - you are making me feel inspired! I kind of want to go to Home Depot now! My favorite store since becoming a homeowner, lol.

Well, besides my FI of course!

And even FI, who is not the kind of guy who likes to have his picture taken AT ALL, let me have my way and is happy with our choice - amazing!!!

Still not done, but getting there. I want to bring in the orange either with curtains or shams. I'm thinking about also using cobalt blue as an accent. maybe a throw at the foot of the bed.

I'm loving the new bed

We are going to put up crownmolding (where you can see the bad paint job). I didn't bother because I knew we'd add molding soon.

We bought a miter box (~$5) for cutting at a 45 degree angle for the molding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
