How Important Is Your Bling To Your Marriage

Recommended Posts

I am asking all of these questions because I know that the reason he has not proposed is finances. and I feel that if we got married then some of the small bill would be alliviate. Like my insurance is wonderful and he pays out the A$% for his insurance. If he went on mine it would be money to save.

I figure we could go to the justice of the peace or elope in St Thomas Honeymoon later. We have been together so long that it seems that nothing is going right because we are fighting finances. I dont care (at this second) about the engagement ring it can come later it just feels like it is time now. That maybe if we got married the the universe will smile on our union and things would get better.

Am I wrong. Should I say something.

hmm good question! what if you got a ring now that you two can afford and then later down the road you could upgrade it?

I would marry Joe with or without the ring, but I have to admit wearing the ring makes it more real, and i catch myself staring at it...

Ok. Well, based on the poll, I voted for what I'd do. Personally, when I was 18 I was ready to get married. I would have done it ring, or no ring. However, the reason we waited was finances. It's not about the jewelry on your hand, it's about your vows to eachother and what they mean to you.

I love my E-ring and wedding band set. But with that said, I would have married Cain with a gum ball machine ring if that's all we could afford. Just buy a plain wedding band and get married. You can always get the bling when you can afford it more.

I thought it was just me. I want to be Lady P and for some reason he want to wait for ring. I dont care. I just feel it is time. I know he does to but MEN (scream) why is PRIDE such a huge thing to them? HSN has wonderful dominiques and I would wear it with pride.

It definitely is a guy thing. I told Reggie I didn't need an engagement ring, but he insisted. Absolutely it's a pride thing with some of them!!! pinkie.gif

I'd marry Jeff again in a heartbeat with no ring, in a courthouse by ourselves. When you're with the right person, the "material" stuff shoudn't matter. Getting married shouldn't be about how much money they spend on you, or how much money you spend on your guests, but about celebrating your love, commitment, and starting the rest of your life.

Sure, I absolutely LOVE my ring. Jeff went wayyyy overboard in my opinion, but he saved for almost a year to buy my ring and wanted it to be really special. We are fortunate that he was able to do that. Is it necessary? Absolutely not. But, am I glad he did? Heck yeah! I probably stare at my ring at least 5 times a day still, and I've had it for over a year...

Funny story, I was really good friends with the girl Jeff dated in his early twenties. They were together for over 4 years and while they talked about getting married, neither of them wanted to commit. His ex used to say that she wouldn't marry him with less than a 2 carat ring, and she was serious. He used to tell her he'd never buy anything larger than 1/2 carat, not matter who he was marrying. The irony is that once we started dating and were together about 4 months, we were talking about getting married and he wouldn't because he had to save up for this huge ring he wanted to get me...I made no demands or requests and ended up with my awesome ring from the guy who said he'd never buy one...

OK, sorry that ended up long!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
