Sandals/Beaches Reception Times

Recommended Posts

So I was thinking, I have chosen an 11am ceremony time. However, what time do receptions normally start? Is it immediately after? I was hoping to have something later on so the guests wouldn't be in direct sunlight. Can any veterans or anyone else clue me in? :)

Thanks!

We were able to pick our time for our reception. Our ceremony was at 3pm and the WC suggested we wait a few days to pick our reception time once we got a feel of how hot the different times were. Our reception started at 5pm but I really wish I would have waited till it was dark because it was hottttttt. Also, our photographer took pictures for about 1.5-2 hours after the ceremony so we were a little late to the reception.

I highly recommend waiting a little bit until your reception. The wedding that I photographed in November at the Sandals property had their reception immediately after the ceremony (okay, 30 minutes after the ceremony). Their reception was amazing and on the beach and just beautiful, however there was barely any time for portraits. All that was basically done was formals and two or three pictures of the couple. That is the one regret that she has told me, is that she wished we had more time to take photos.

This is all VERY helpful. I chose the 11am time slot because I like how the water looks at that time (photos are always in the back of my mind!) However, if I wait til 6 or so for the reception, I feel like that is SO far from the end of the ceremony that it loses its splendor.

Julie, I almost thought I stole your time but you are at a different resort. We are getting married @ 4 on the 8th. Today my FI & I spoke with Ileana from Tropical Images & decided to book them to do our photos but it will either be the day before or after the actual wedding.

  • 3 months later...

This thread has been quiet for a few months, but I struggled with the same questions. I originally booked our wedding for 1pm but when I started going through the planning process with the wedding dept. the 3pm time slot was open, so we took that instead. Our invitations and things were already printed, but we decided who cares, we'd rather be comfortable and have a better flow to the day. See if any time slots have changed on your day if you are worried!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
