Has anyone gotten married at or attended a wedding at Southernmost on the Beach? My FI and I stayed there in February 2009 and loved it. We are considering it as a place to have our wedding but I haven't seen anyone comment on it in the other threads. I'm also open to other suggestions as well. Thanks!

I have looked into it a little. We are not having our wedding there because it was too expensive for the simple wedding we want, but we are looking into it as an option for our guests to stay at. I love that there are options of which part of the resort to stay at. I am curious to see if you get any information about it as well.

I just got married in Key West and we stayed at the Southernmost Hotel and witnessed several weddings at their beach wedding location.

I'd say it looks more expensive than its worth. Its very public - everyone eating at the cafe and using the pool, beach will be able to see the whole ceremony. We looked into it but could not believe the prices they wanted. I was glad we could not afford it once I saw the set up.

Tasha77- Where in Key West did you have your wedding and reception? I am looking into having my ceremony at Smather's Beach but have not found a location for a reception. I am looking into restaurants near the water that would be both fun yet "wedding-like" at the same time. Any suggestions?

I got married on Smathers Beach - I liked it, even though it was very busy that day, several weddings were going on at the time - we felt like we were the only ones there and the sunset was gorgeous.

I only had 16 people in my party, so we didn't do the traditional big reception - we took everyone out for dinner after the ceremony at The Harbourview Cafe located in the Pier House Resort - they do a a great job for small weddings. They had me pick out several dinner options for my guests to choose from, made us personalized menus, we booked a private area, and ended up having a whole dining room to ourselves. It was right on the water, we saw sailboats passing by, it was very nice, as was the hotel itself. You only pay regular menu prices and tip - so it saved us so much money. Food was fancy and delicious, everyone raved about it. They also let me set up favors and had a cake cutting service we didn't use. Instead we went back to the hotel, cut the cake out by the pool bar (Cakes by Karol, highly recommended also) had champagne, the older (and younger) guests went back to their rooms. I changed into a shorter white dress, and we partied on Duval all night.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
