Jury Duty :(

Recommended Posts

My husband was summoned to jury duty a few months ago. He told them he would be getting married/out of town, and got an extension until after the wedding. L.A. county is on top of things because we get back from the wedding and his notice to report was in the mailbox. He called Sunday night and the automated system said he didn't have to report and to call again Monday night. He calls tonight and it says he must report on Tuesday :o(

We're all for civic duty and all that, but he's so bummed because he's sick of his boss like a lot of people here and had an interview set up for Tuesday (it was the only day this new place could see him and he hoped he would luck out and not have to report again).

Anyway, cross your fingers that he doesn't get put on a trial and that this potential employer is willing to postpone his interview.

Jamy I pick jurors all the time. There are ways to get out of it by not being a desirable candidate. If it is for civil trial he just has to pay attention to what kind of case it is. For example if it is a car accident all he has to do when he is called is answer questions in a way that will seem like he has a bias. By this I don't mean a bias against race, gender, etc. What I mean is he could say something like "My wife got into a car accident once and she sued and she didn't get any money. I am still upset about that." They will send him home. Or if it were a medical malpractice case he could say "Most of my friends are doctors, I love them." Either one of these comments shows a prejudice to one side and he will not be picked.

*In the meantime I will keep my fingers crossed*

Our court eliminates jurors when they say they can't pass judgment on others because their religion says only God can do that. Or X crime happened to my kid, sister, mom, etc and it would be extremely difficult to be fair and impartial.

Yup Kate same here. Anything that shows that you won't be fair or impartial will get you off.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
