Searching for a photographer

Recommended Posts

Good Morning,

I am wondering where people have been going to look for a photographer for their destination wedding? Magazines? Websites? Purely from recommendations? Blogs?

I feel that the photos of our wedding day are going to be really important to help me to keep the memories alive.

Can anyone suggest where I should start looking? And where have you found particularly useful?

Thank you so much,

Amy

Have you chosen your wedding location yet? I think that your coordinator should help you with this. That's how we chose our photographer. Our coordinator gave us 3 recommendations, then we checked out each of their websites and set up phone calls to ask questions. We also read any reviews that we could find, mostly on this site. Then we just went with our gut :-)

Honestly, I selected my photographer from this website! I felt like I knew his style and personality more because he would post, and I trusted him more because of that.

Not to mention, we have some AMAZING photographers on this website!!

I got mine from a recommendation from a co-worker at an Art Gallery. She is currently living in Bloomington IL. I love her we just did our engagement pics with her she is amazing. Let me know if you want her info.

Here is the link with some of my e-pics:

I chose mine mainly from reading the reviews on this forum and then looking up their prices. I ultimately chose the one that was within my budget, had a portforlio that I liked (one of the fellow BDW's send me her wedding pics from the photographer I chose so that I could see her work and I really like them) and that responded the quickest via email. Hope this helps!

Once I chose my island/resort - I used google and then this website to narrow it down. I knew what my budget was, but photography has a lot to do with taste. I looked at a million wedding pictures from a lot of photographers to see whose style I liked best. They do get booked up fast so I definitely recommend starting early.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
