Definitely get a 2nd opinion if you have doubts.

She is not a huge computer person so it's better to call her since she doesn't check her email all the time.

magicjack # (954) 354-6139 - this is a Florida # so it's not international, many people in Aruba have these phones for their US contacts.

Please give her our love when you speak to her. She is a talker so when you call, make sure that you have time wink.gif

PS: I posted my review in the Wedding Review section along with a bunch of pictures but there were lots of problems so it's not a very "positive" review. We still had a blast so I guess it's ok :)

Would do again

*Destination Wedding - it was perfect! and it makes your wedding seem to last longer wink.gif

*Use a wedding coordinator - Deanne with Precious Maui Weddings in Maui was great

*Private Location - I really liked having our private area next to the beach instead of sharing the beach with the 2 other brides there and tourists

*Have dinner at Dukes for the reception - it was perfect. I'm really glad we didn't spend thousands of dollars on a private reception. Duke's was very reasonably priced and everyone loved it and the food!

*Skip wedding cake - thanks to comments on this forum I decided not to have a wedding cake. The dessert at the restaurant was amazing and everyone loved it! This was a much cheaper way to go as well!

*Not go overboard on photography - I'm glad I didn't go overboard. Our photographer worked really hard and did a great job, and we didn't spend thousands! We bought the CD of negatives and can order however many pics we want at a good price!

*Not go overboard with flowers - The background was so beautiful.. I'm glad I didn't buy lots of flowers! My bridesmaids carried single flowers, I had a small bouquet, and it was perfect.

*Rehearsal "Dinner" - Husbands parents threw this. It was perfect. They catered in appetizers to their condo for the 40 people who traveled to Maui. Everyone got a chance to meet.

*Rehearsal - Everyone standing was so nervous! I don't think anyone had been in a wedding before and few had even been to one! This really calmed everone's nerves.

Would Have Done Differently

*I would have moved up the reception dinner time- The kids were laying their heads down on the tables by the end.. I felt bad for them.

*I would have tested sitting in my dress for dinner - It was not a comfortable dinner. I loved every second and was not dissapointed. But my dress was pretty tight while eating :)

*Pulled my bangs back with my hair - It was windy and they kept blowing in my face during pictures!

*Shipped my dress in advance - It was kind of a pain carrying it through the airports.. and I stressed out too much about getting it steamed on the day of my wedding. I could have had it all taken care of in advance..

*Try harder not to stress about mixing families - Nearly the whole week I stressed out too much about my mom's and dad's families mixing. They are seperated and speak to each other only when very necessary. Everything worked out fine (as I should have expected), and it was great being able to spend time with them both on vacation :)

** A couple of more things now that I see the pictures**

I would definitely practice in the mirror in my gown with a bouquet in my hands. Now looking through my pictures, in 90% of them, my flowers are covering the top of my gown where it is beautifully decorated. I wish the photographer told me that I was covering the prettiest part of my gown and to lower my hands. I just never thought of practicing holding the flowers.......

Also, I would've practiced with the veil with my husband. In a Jewish ceremony, the groom puts the veil over your face and typically that requires a 2 layer veil which is what I had. Turns out that when he put the veil over my face, he pulled both layers over my face so I had both layers over my face, not 1 in the front and 1 in the back. Wierd. Nobody said anything either about that, wish they did coz I obviously didn't notice.

  • 5 weeks later...

This thread is great, so much info and a great time-killer for a friday! Now I feel a lot better about the choices I've made so far. The only thing thats bothering me is our wedding is booked for 7pm (not my choice). We have 5 kids going and they're going to fall asleep on their dinner plates...not to mention all the pictures will be in the dark. Why didn't I realize this before?!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
