Welcome home!
Hi Kimmy ~ don't want to hijack the thread but you can definitely PM me if you want to know any details.

My bachelorette party is this weekend so if you see a bus full of crazy girls rocking Cincy, that's me!

Here is our list of what we would and would'nt do

Would:

*Marry the man of my dreams

*Have a DW it was just an amazing experience

*Have exactly the same group they were awesome

*Do all the DIY projects we did we got so many comments on the personal touch, plus it kept me busy since there was not a lot of planning to do

*Hand out OOT bags our guests loved them and it was fun to see the bags and items being used

*Use a Travel Agent they really saved us a lot of money and time

*Do my own makeup I went to MAC before I left they gave me tips and then I was able to freshen up as often as needed on the Wedding day and TTD

*Bring a photographer Evan Baines and Kay Anderson the photos are exceptional and they were great to work with

*Buy maracas as our favors when we got to Mexico they were a huge hit. We originally were brining our own down but then decided to get them there they were nicer then the oneâ€s we ordered and they said Mexico on them.

*Have a Welcome Dinner, we just did this at the buffet but our guest really enjoyed it and it was free!

*Get my hair done at the resort

*Buy extra flowers they added a nice splash of bright colors

*Have the ceremony on the beach it was just an amazing feeling getting married by the sea

*Write our own vows it was very touching

*Have a mariachi band play at the cocktail hour they were so much fun, everyone danced and we even took them to the beach when we took photos before sunset.

*I would have dinner again in the restaurant the food was great and it was a great time to talk to everyone. Kyle really does not like buffets so this was our only option it was kind of fun to go to various locations for the events.

*Have the private reception by the pool it was so much fun to dance under the stars it was a perfect night

*Higher DJ Bob he really got the party going and he saved us a lot of time since we did not have to download all the songs we would have needed. Plus it allowed our guest to request whatever they wanted.

*Give our mothers and grandmothers embroidered handkerchiefs instead of flowers they loved the personal touch and they now have a keepsake.

*Do a TTD session we did it at Hidden Worlds they were awesome to work with

*Wear a wedding gown, a hair flower and veil made me feel like a bride and I am glad Kyle decided to wear a suit he looked so handsome

*Have a honeymoon after everyone left

Would do different:

*Arrive before our guests to work out all wedding issues prior to guests getting there, we missed a lot of time with our guests because the resort changed our wedding time and tried to move the location so we had to have several additional meetings.

*Bring or higher a videographer for the entire day there is so much I have forgot or missed and it would be nice to have the video to look back on. We did hire one for the ceremony but I have not seen it yet.

*Donâ€t get stressed about guests prior to or during the vacation. Those that want to be there will be there and they will figure out their vacation.

*Relax more I like to think I am laid back but I felt I had to make sure everyone was having a good time.

*I would not have agreed to change our wedding time to 2pm it was too sunny we were squinting in all our pictures and it was too hot for some of our guests and our BM and RB were really hot since they wore black suits.

*Talked to the WC about how to get our stuff from one location to the other: we had centerpieces, candles, cameras, knife set and flutes and when we left the restaurant to go to the poolside we were trying to carry it all as we were not sure if we would get them back. What we did not grab (the cameras) we did not get back so ask your WC if it is up to the bride/groom/guests to get what so you donâ€t loose anything.

*Not allow the WC to tell our guests that it was ok to walk behind the officiant during the ceremony it was distracting and in all of our pictures our guests are in them taking our picture. If I knew this in advance I would have told everyone to stay at his or her seats.

*As I bought things leading up to the wedding I would have packed it so when we did decide to pack we knew we could take it all with us. We had to leave some stuff home because I bought way too much stuff.

*Would not have worked out so much when I got to Mexico my dress fit great when I left but I lost a couple of lbs there and then my dress was a little loose… oh well better then too tight!

This thread was so entertaining that I was being paged at work with a phone call and I literally did not hear it. They thought I had left the office without telling anyone because I was so quiet. I was reading this thread like I was paid to do it! popcorn.gif

Thanks for all the info ladies!

If I had to do it again, I would NOT have an open bar. What a huge mistake!! People were triple fisting it back and then losing track of their drinks. But it's ok because it's open bar so they'll just go get another one. I am still steamed about what happened at my wedding. Alcohol ran out only a few hours into the wedding when it should have lasted all night. If you make it a loonie bar (canadian term for $1 drinks) then at least people will be responsible for their drinks.

This is an awesome thread!

For the ladies that brought the Ipod and dock station...was it loud enough and what about the lighting? I think we are going to just do the Ipod too, but they are going to charge us around $400 for the set-up and speakers, but if your dock station was enough we might just upgrade the one that we have here at home. Thanks in advance for your help.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
