Hey Canadian Brides :)

Recommended Posts

I am from the US and am having my wedding at Niagara Falls. I have NEVER been there, not anyone else I know either really.

I was wondering if any of you have been to the Embassy overlooking the falls. I am not having my actual ceremony there (I only have like 9 rooms booked so what good am I to them) and I am just doing dinner in their restaurant. They have been little help.

I am trying to decide if we should just do like a cocktail hour before dinner in the bar or at the managers reception if they have it in the bar or not.

This is the first day I am stressed about not seeing the place.

so.... you're going to be staying on the Canadian side, and getting married in Canada?

My FI and I took a trip to Niagara falls earlier this year - we stayed at the Hilton Fallsview, not the Embassy - the view was pretty great from there, even though the casino and some other buildings were a bit in the way - regardless, we could see both the American and Canadian falls. I'm sure most of the hotels that say "fallsview" have pretty good views of the falls.

Sorry I can't help more - but there is tons of info out there about Niagara Falls - and I'm sure if you call the tourist information office they will have more information. The hotel should be willing to help out, too. What have they said so far??

Hi there,

I have stayed in the Falls countless times and if its the Embassy Suites you've booked, you picked a great hotel! The rooms, as the names implies, are all suites and very spacious - it is a fairly new hotel so not much wear and tear and the location is fantastic - you can walk to the 'main drag', the casino and the actual falls in under 10 minutes. I remember there is a nice big room on one of the middle floors that we went to for a complimentary drink when we first arrived that would be ideal for your cocktail hour..I think it was called the President's Lounge?? Ask to speak to the concierge at the hotel instead of the front desk staff, maybe they will be more helpful! Good Luck!

  • 2 weeks later...

I've spent MANY special events at Niagara Falls (my grand parents like to gamble... so the family accomodates!). The Embassy is great. You'll love it and the falls are beautiful... especially at night.

I highly reccomend planning to visit some wineries while you're in the area. The hotel usually provides complimentary wine tastings, which are a lot of fun. You'd need some transportation though... they best wineries are about a 15min car drive away, but well worth it!

Don't stress about the location! You're going to LOVE it!

Is there a room where you can have your cocktail hour while having a great view of the falls? They light them up at night, so it could be nice! You'll find that you will be really well situated within the center or town, it should be great! I haven't stayed at the hotel though, so I can't provide help on that but I strongly suggest a visit to Niagara-On-The-Lake and like Samantha said, visit some wineries!

Good luck with everything!

Thanks everyone. We are staying on the Canadian side but getting married on the US side and having dinner at our hotel (CA side). I love Embassy's but the front desk has been little help and the wedding planner just flat out stopped getting back to me, I guess because I am not doing enough there!

Thanks for the info on the presidents lounge, going to call about that today!!! Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
