Bridesmaid dresss-help

After searching for bridesmaid dresses and finding the designer, style and color my new challenge is the price. The prices I believe range from 160- 200. Not including alterations, shoes etc. Is this a reasonable price to ask of my bridesmaids to spend?

HELP!

I have spent that much to be in weddings. I have seen maids on here that buy their dresses from h&m or others that spend 200.... so it really depends on what you think they'll be comfortable with. Maybe it would be a good idea to ask them? Or if you're in love with what you found, make em pony up the cash! wink.gif

I think that is pretty standard pricing. I was recently in a wedding and the dress was $180. (dress, shoes, alterations, etc came to about $300)

You can usually tell by their reactions...

If the pricing seems high or too much for some of your bridesmaids maybe you can offer to help with the cost or offer to pay for the alterations or shoes(?)

If your BM dress is like a Bari-Jay or another designer that does BM dresses in bulk - be sure to check out other sites. My BM dresses were regularly $180+ but I found then for just over $100 w/ free shipping on one website and they were perfect for all the girls - and they all appreciated me finding them a way to save some money!

We ordered the BM dresses from Prom Dresses, 2010 Prom Dresses, Formal Dresses, Wedding Dresses, Short Dresses & Special Occasion Gowns.

My BM dresses were $177 + tax, shoes, alterations. I was very upfront with all of the girls and made sure they were comfortable with that price point in the beginning.

Then I ended up paying for about half of each of their dresses anyway because I felt so bad that alterations were between $50 and $75!

So I would say just ask them directly, I'm sure they'll appreciate your honesty.

I picked out my originial bridesmaid dresses form Davids Bridal and ended up waiting to make sure all of my BM's were able to come. Also because I was purchasing them because they were flying all that way for us. But I also didnt want to spend money if they werent going to show. I went from 7BM's to 1 Bm and my MOH. And I ended up finding the greatest dresses from AE for $40! Perfect!

I do think its a little pricey but that is just me. They are flying all that way and paying for their vacation. I would try researching for similar dresses and compare all prices. Then make a decision.

Thank you girls for your postings. I feel a little better about the dresses and will take your advices.

I am planning to have my girls wear B2 it is a division of Belosie or something like that. I found these dresses and happen to like most of his or her collection. They have a nice variety of styles and figured this would work best for all my bridesmaids.

I tried Davids Bridal and I found some I liked, but heard they were discontinued. New styles "might" be coming in end of Jan. I need to order before then!

I am going to try an talk to the lady who owns the store that carries B2 and see if we can get a better deal bc I am ordering around 11 bridesmaid dress and possibly having my mom and mother in law buy there as well!

And if anyything.. maybe I will pay for alterations or shoes etc. I guess I have to figure all this out!

Thanks again girls!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
