Ocean Blue & Sand-Punta Cana

Recommended Posts

Hi Sally,

Maybe we can help eachother out once in awhile. I will be getting married there as well on Jan 3, 2014. If you get any info can you send it on over to me too! douglasc_@hotmail.com. That would be great.

Did you get the information on extras that the resort offers? Did you book a package with the resort?

Hi Ladies!!

I'm new to the site and this thread but I too will soon be a bride at Ocean Blue and Sand! my wedding date is November 23, 2013. I would like to know how most of you ladies booked your travel and stay the resort. I'm just wondering if a travel agency helps in any way. I'm traveling from New York and most of my guests are too and i would like to get the best deals for them, any suggestions? Also I would really like to book the honeymoon suite for my fiance and I, did any of you ladies do so? is it worth all the extra money? Does the resort upgrade you at all because you're getting married there and bringing about 50 guests? lol... Any info you ladies can provide would be great! Thanks!

Hi Ladies!

I'm new to this website and thread so please bare with me. But I too will soon be an Ocean Blue and Sand bride! My wedding will be on November 23, 2013 at 3pm. I have a question for the ladies leaving from the states (i'm leaving from New York), did any of you book your travel and stay through a travel agency? I want to get the best deal for my guests as well as myself but i'm not sure if my best bet is going through a travel agency or looking online myself, any suggestions? Also has anyone booked the honeymoon suite or planning to do so? I really want to but it's pretty pricey so i want to know if it's worth it. Do any of you know if the resort offers any upgrade in room for the bride and the groom? Thanks!!

Hi There and welcome!! We're leaving from NJ and did not use a travel agent. We booked ourselves through cheapcarribbean.com and encourages our guest to use whatever site/travel agent/ way of booking they were comfortable with. I'm still not sure what the best decision was but it worked for us! I think it really depends on how big your group is too. Using a travel agent can probably save YOU a ton of questions and headaches. This was a tough decision for me as well because there's really pros and cons to both choices!

We booked a regular room and have heard from a number of brides that the honeymoon suite upgrade is hit or miss. If they have open ones, you may get upgraded but you can't count on it. We're leaving it to be a wait and see. To me, it wasn't worth the extra cost when booking! We don't spend much time in the room anyway! If we get an upgrade it will be a fun suprise but if we don't I'll be totally ok with it!

Happy planning!

Thank you so much KristinaM!! I keep going back and forth about the travel agency so I think i may just go to one just to see what they offer and if it's not better than what I've been seeing online then we'll just do it ourselves.

I was thinking the same thing about the rooms! I'm really leaning towards getting a regular room because it's definitely true what you said. I'm pretty sure with all our family and friends there and all the wedding prep, we won't really get to enjoy the room anyway.

How's everything coming along for you??? You're wedding is a few days away!!! woot.gif How exciting! Do you have everything ready to go? are you getting married on the beach or at the gazebo? I'm thinking I may do the gazebo to avoid the lurkers lol. What are you doing as far as decorations? I was going to go with the resorts decorations but after learning about all the DIY projects and efavormart.com I may take a few things over there myself (runners, chair sashes, etc.)

Definately doesn't hurt to get a quote. The travel agents on here get awesome reviews too, so you could always contact one of them!

YES, it's getting super close!! I don't feel ready at all but I know it will all fall into place! We are doing the beach and sticking with the basic decorations. I ordered some simple stuff like paper lanterns, some starfish to scatter on tables, and fans for the chairs at the ceremony but mostly we're just sticking with the basic decor package! The scenery is decoration enough for me!

There's a few weddings coming up around here so throw your questions out and if we don't already have the answer I'll be happy to check it out for you while we are there!

Hi Ladies,

i have been looking into this resort and got the package information from the resort. the sand extravaganza and ocean romance packages include an open bar for the dinner reception. my question is, what brands of alcohol are included in their open bar?

i have been trying to get an answer from the coordinator but she has not gotten back to me, just said she had to talk to the bar manager and he hasnt responded yet.

Welcome MV1325!!!!! Congrats on your engagement. As everyone already mentioned there are pros and cons to the travel agent. I chose to use a travel agent for my group because my family and friends arent the greatest at ensuring they get the room on their own. We decided to go with Babs from Wright Travel ... shes been a great help and got us a great package with the resort. I did not ise them for airfare since prices fluctuate so much. On that note... My wedding is Dec 14th and I've already booked my airfare. Lol... Im a control freak and was worried the prices would skyrocket if i waited any longer. We booked a regular room pre wedding and a privilege suite afterwards. I believe Yinette said the honeymoon upgrade is by availability if you have a privilege suite booked already. Aliona82, I believe Yinette said it would be local alcohol at the open bar. I would send them the email again sometimes they havr connectivity issues and dont get all of their emails. The WC are very responsive. Sorry for the long response... HTH

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
